While I don't seek to deny anyone else's interpretation; I'd like to offer one of my own. While I was girlfriendless (I say it like it's over, it's still an issue) I talked to my friends and I talked about my loneliness compared to them with their girlfriends and they said (basically) that they were still lonely. I always took that to be a completely absurd notion of those who do not appreciate what they have so I take this 'secret' as something one lonely person would say to another after both have heard that from their friends who just felt like brushing off the lonely friends than actually help them.
