Description Yay! I managed to finish my Halloween drawing in time. Just a fun little illustration for the imagination. I had loads of fun and you can't go wrong with faeries and skulls. Happy Halloween everyone!

Edit: I know I didn't put much thought in the description like I normally do with my illustrations. I was in a hurry to post it and mostly I'm just lazy. So I'll take the time to do that now.Β

A group of faeries living somewhere in an enchanted forest far, far away, sheltered by a skull located next to a fairy ring of mushrooms, conveniently. They happened upon a tealight during one of their adventures. They spend a night telling ghostly, campy tales to warm up a cold, dark night.

As you know, I love playing with shadow and light. The rugged, eerie skull to counter balance the fun, soft ring of faeries. Reality versus fantasy: Nothing is more real and permanent like death, represented by the skull. You can't go wrong with faeries for whimsical, dreamy fantasy.

I had the idea of drawing faeries sitting on a fairy ring of mushrooms for quite a few years now. The tealight, skull, and casted evil shadow were just simply a last minute addition to the line art. If you watch my video, you will also notice that the random debris on the ground were completely very, very last minute. I had a lot of fun with this piece and it's been years in the making in my own head before forking out 9 hours of charcoal to finally produce it. It's a lot softer in person, the tonal value is more extreme than this image, but I couldn't find a good balance using Photoshop to show it's truest nature. I hope you guys like it and have a great and safe Halloween!

The texture on the skull is hawt. Β  Β That's 9 hours of work for me right there.

Can't wait for the WIP upload. Β I'm standing by. Β

This is very creative! Everything about it is just so neat! I think the human skull and the shadow the fairy is doing is by far the most interesting, aside from the tea light candle being their light source!

i wonder if the standing fairy is telling a story about donnie darko? Lol
