Description

This is an Apocalypse Locust. Also known as a Locust of Abaddon, a Child of the Pit, or the wings of Apollyon.

Past the circles of hell, down beyond even the 9th circle lies the Pit of Abaddon. This is a lawless wasteland where hell's unwanted squirm and fight in squalor, the absolute lowest portion of hell where the most vile Lemures squirm and scream looking for a way out as the birds peck and rip at their flesh and massive beasts rend them apart. Here is where the evil, corruption, and chaos sits like a black muddy tar at the lowest point of reality, and here is where the lord of plague Apollyon resides. Apollyon, the former body of the god Apollo, reanimated by the black filth of the underworld and possessed by madness, grew his army of horrid insects by feeding the lemures hate, corruption, disease and poison, and slowly they emerged from their infantile worm like states to become the Locusts of Abaddon. Though Apollyon has since re-combined with the other horsemen of the Apocalypse, his army still waits for the end of days to emerge from the pit and bring about ruin to mankind.

The Locusts of Abaddon are the warhorse like creatures of the book of Revelations that will swarm the earth together. Each is about the size of a war horse and possess horrid, sharp grasping claws with razor barbs on the arm that can pierce armor. The claws and blades are all tipped not only with a deadly poison, that will wrack the infected with horrible pain, but also a deadly and contagious disease which will make those infected a twisted, and horrid, screaming undead entity that will inflict the same on others. It possesses a large proboscus that extends from it's mouth, which it can fire like a spear or harpoon at enemies. After it strikes an enemy it will break down into flies and return to the Locust's mouth and reform once more. If it strikes an enemy, it will pierce through their body and soul, pinning the soul to the spear and ripping it apart for eternity. It's tail possesses a stinger that causes those struck by it to face horrible hallucinations and seek physical comfort as quickly as possible, while it also inflicts them with an anti-coagulant that increases their blood production and causes their body to swell up and pop from the excess blood flooding through it. Finally, as the locusts fly, their wings produce a horrible buzzing that drives people mad, and their many faces and souls they've captured whisper horrid truths and secrets to everyone around, causing great distraction and discomfort.

Though most wait in the pit of Abaddon to wait for their god's return, quite a few have escaped on to Urth or even to Earth and have taken to bringing about chaos and destruction in areas they appear in. Several undercover military operations on Earth have been a coverup to eliminate an Apocalypse Locust spotted somewhere on Earth, and on Urth a few have been summoned by worshippers of Apollyon to kill their enemies or bring havoc to the world. Not all of them worship only Apollyon, and some will follow the will of Adephagia or Beelzebub as well. Every now and then powerful demons may ride one as a mount, or in rare circumstances, orc or Ogre chieftans may ride one into battle.

Though they technically possess a human like intellect, it is used almost solely for survival and huntiny as they do not speak, but do possess a swarm mentality and will follow others of their kind to surround or destroy things.
