These butterfly pieces have been a blast to paint. I never truly appreciated their beauty until recently. This particular species is a Zebra Striped Swallowtail. There energy in this piece is something that just evolved as I painted it. I didn't want to have a static image of the butterfly, I wanted to capture some of that quickness you see as these creatures flutter about.
