I am self-taught in watercolour, yes. Grew up doing photo realistic graphite drawing, and picked up oils in college. Lost my oil studio after I graduated, so I needed a medium that still allowed for detail, layering and blending but was non-toxic (for my kitties) and dried quickly. Watercolour worked out best for me. It's a little unpredictable, but I like that.
