Photo of Brooklyn Navy Yard / Wallabout / NYC skyline by me
shot from the roof of my apartment building.

I think Great Cthulhu made a wrong turn somewheres looking for Red Hook,
and ended up in Wallabout.

EDIT - the docks are always at risk...

The best comes off the veggie man's truck on Friday nights if he's parked on Clinton on the way home from Rope. And that's just a block from the navy yard entrance.

Lucky YOU... Lovecraft despised Red Hook for good reason.

(Well, as close to reason as his tortured brilliance could handle.)

He probably hated Wallabout, too.

silkithoughts In reply to CapnDeek373 [2012-03-30 18:27:19 +0000 UTC]

Actually, Wallabout seems much more his style. Red Hook was filled with degenerate immigrants and even some "subhuman" folk of color. And, of course, the "hookers". (Yes, they got that name for the streetwalkers of Red Hook.) Wallabout, I'm sure, would never let such types in...or if in, let them survive. Except the hookers, of course.

Well, he didn't actually live in Red Hook. He lived in Brooklyn Heights.
A bit more gentrified than Red Hook
(kinda halfway between Red Hook and Downtown Brooklyn)
Red Hook was the shipping and cargo piers.
Wallabout has the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where they built and repaired ships. [link]

Funny you should mention that. Maybe it was in the back of my head while I was working on it.
I'd just recently watched Clash of the Titans and One Million Years B.C.
