Description
These are poppies. I went to Red Lodge, MT as part of my adventure through the Central United States. These were growing EVERYWHERE. I loved how these blooms looked next to the buds that hadn't quite yet opened up.Related content

Thank you for your critique. I'm not very skilled at the post-processing part of photography yet. I've picked up a book on how to use the GIMP (I'm too broke for Photoshop) and will take your suggestion as a good way to practice. Thank you again!

I like the concept a lot and the perspective.. but I think you should try to make the flowers in focus "pop" more.. and either lower the exposure of the background or you should've taken it with lower F stop to get more bokeh.. almost full open imo, but I like the idea a lot.
just the background takes a bit too much attention from the important

Thank you! I appreciate the constructive criticism. Love it and appreciate it. I'll remember to think about my focus and framing next time. (no sarcasm, I greatly appreciate you)

There are many varieties of poppies, I just know they belong to "papaver rhoeas" species (classic red flower that we call in french, 'coquelicot(s)'). I cultivate some in my flower-bed but I am looking for new varieties

Ah! I didn't even know there were more than one kind. I'm not sure what's most common in Montana, but whatever it is, I'm sure that's what these flowers are...

These ones (on the photo) look really fine : vigorous and well-grown. They may prefer the climate, in which state has it been taken ? Or maybe they are better cultivated. Or both

Montana. I'm not sure what climate in which they best grow, but from the state of the yard in which they were growing, I'm gonna say no one was raising these specifically.

This is beautiful, the background is nice but because the focus on it is so soft the poppies still really stand out which is important as they are the subject of your photograph
