Really amazing shades through tonal range. The variety of shapes that the birds present is really profound and brings a unique edge to the piece. Composition is really neat with the true divisions between the man, a wall, and the sky... really distinct. I fell the grain adds to the image also, giving it that artisit flare and also mimicing the beach with sand, as the sky looks like it could be. The hint of clouds adds some nice textures as well.

This works. I dont know why, but it just does better than most pictures of the same sort. The line at the bottom adds alot to the composition and feel of the photo, and the clouds on the top left and darkness on the top right contribute to the mood very well too. i do agree with fortylegz tho, if you changed the title it'd put a more interesting image in the viewer's mind. fantastic shot , great border too

I dont like the title though, and I feel that it would be stronger maybe if it had no name, and the viewer had to make sense of it. Know what I mean? Its like when you think "runner", you get into the perspective thing, or I get into the perspective of it. But if you leave it blank, then Im struck with the mystery of it.... the dark, the birds, the man, the spacyness of it all.

For some reason I get the feeling that he only runs because he can't fly, and he figures that running is the next best thing. This photo is really gritty, But I think I like it more this way than I would with a sharp, crisp finish. And I really like the simpleness of just using silhouettes.

wow... awesome capture. i love the lighting and the shadows. the moment it was taken is perfect. the contrast is great. nice picture.
