EDIT: It was salvageable! It actually required surprisingly little editing to make it print-worthy. So that was cool. I also took time to enhance some color and lighting in places, and I made the lightning (at least the nearer bolt) brighter, as more than one person suggested it. I resisted it at first, because I kind of liked it kind of light and subtle before, but after giving it a try I concede that I like it better this way. So thanks all!

I'm extremely not amused with myself for accidentally somehow saving this at screen resolution instead of print resolution. It may be fixable, but who knows

Still, extremely happy with the sky. Honestly, the only part of this piece that I'm not entirely happy with is the tree. But on the whole it came out almost exactly as it looked in my head.

No story behind it except that on our way back from Baltimore, there were storms in the distance ahead of us and at one point on the drive back we were headed downhill looking into a valley and off in the distance there was a bolt of lightning, which we got to actually see stretch between the clouds and the ground in the valley below. It was pretty freakin' cool and I wanted to create a similar effect here. Was fun. Just kind of a "quick paint" (less than three hours).
