Absolutely purrfect!
Eight playful little cuties I found in a street of Lisbon, Portugal.
(If you wish, you can view 2 details at this link )
Note: Many people tell me that, like in some of my other pics,
this image looks like a "pencil drawing". It is a photo, though.
The truth is that I always spend some time to edit my photos
to get a nice balance of details and different gray tones... It's
just more work for better results.
Prints of the above artwork now available!
Also purchase a bigger jpg version to have it as a wallpaper.

This should be in Photomanipulations. I think you're misleading people even though you do mention that they are edited. I don't think many people realize the extent to which it is edited, though, and it doesn't look like you answer comments to clarify.

I've never seen cats with stripes on their fur so precise.
I think the owner should preserve this breed.

Heh. I was gonna say it's a pencil drawing as well. In fact, it reminded me of the look of M. C. Escher pictures, minus the surrealism. Though, I don't think Escher did pencil drawings. Still though, it's a really nice picture you got here.

it's a great photo but I don't think that the fur lines are real. such fur pattern doesn't exist in real life. D:

This is a masterpiece of a shot!
What are the odds... 8 striped cats... did you set them up like this and did you have an animal trainer to aid you?

Hmm...first off, congrats on the DD, this is really cool. I think it's very neat that you take the time to edit your photos and I love how detailed and sharp this one is. It's definitely a fascinating artistic technique.
But...unedited photos are never good enough to be shared? I guess I have to disagree, because photographs--by their very nature--are meant to capture life, a real moment in time. They're almost never perfect, but life isn't either. I suppose my feeling is that they do exactly what they're supposed to, and there's some real merit to that, both artistically and otherwise. Doctored and altered photos are beautiful and really cool--but I think at some point they cease to be photographs and become photomanipulation instead. I totally respect your technique, but I just had to say that I think there is absolutely something worth sharing even in ordinary photos.

Interesting idea. It's sad that a lot people think the natural world isn't beautiful enough to share as is. And I have to agree with you in that its extremely interesting and captivating when someone captures the perfect moment in a photo as is..it's almost rare and special. Unfortunately the grey line of manipulated and unmanipulated can be tough...but I'd agree with you that these lean more on the side of photomanipulation, otherwise the author (if your reading)will have a lot of people clambering to get breeding rights to your cats and their unique pelts.
Leads to some interesting questions.
To the artist though: kudos, you've got a great style for yourself and the way you see the world. Keep it up!

Thank you for your neat response! I completely agree with you, it can be hard to decide just where the line should go, and sometimes that's part of the artistic process! This was more in response to one of the artist's comments than the style of this piece, though...The comment seems to have been edited out now, but the author said that he felt that "unedited photos are never good enough to be shared." I just wanted to share my thoughts. Thanks for the interesting comment!

Thanks a lot for sharing your opinion, after I read your comment I removed "unedited photos are never good enough to be shared" in the description because I realized it can be misunderstood. I agree unedited photos can be interesting if the content/subject is very special, rare or unique or if there is a creative work involved before taking the pic (for instance a professional photographer spending all day in his studio to prepare all the content of the picture). My main intention was to say that the more work spent on a picture, the best it will look in the end in most of the cases, I'm saying this after a decade of experience in the field. I just believe it's a bit easy to take a pic, post it and say wow, this is art, and that's it. Some people spend days or weeks to improve and boost the quality of their images. This said, I agree, there are indeed magic instants in life that have to be shared, and there is no need to edit anything, for instance, in this photo, I didn't do any post production editing: [link] That was a rare magic moment.

Well that's obvious lol, but it still looks more like a drawing than a photograph manipulated or not.
