A spiral you have to look at for a while, not for its complexity but for its beauty. Elegant design and masking, and the background textures are gorgeous. Thanks for the large view!

You're welcome! I'm still learning about masking, to a point where I feel comfortable with it. I had to devote some time to other things for awhile, though.

A lovely piece with great textures - the background is so unusual, like an old ink stained map or something... sounds awful but that's meant as a compliment, lol! Your masking and attention to detail has paid off, very well done!

Thanks for the compliment about the background...I worked really hard on it.

Thank you...the color for the shape was a last second change...I decided to go with a more analogous color scheme.

Nicely done! I really like the background with the criss-crossing lines and dark tendrils running throughout. Lots of very effective details.

Thank you... the criss-cross lines are the combination of 2 mapping formulas : brick pattern + iterated glass.

For some reason I thought you had already taken Janet's classes...I loved the masking class...it can be a little frustrating but once you get the hang of it it's like a whole new fractal world opens up. I'm in the May Artistry class, hopefully it will be as much fun.

I had hoped to take it in March but it was already full. I'll probably take a break afterwards before the artistry class.

Very, very nice! I love the perspective, flow and texture work, and the spiral design is splendid. Great depth and lighting. Reminds me of a spider plant with lots of babies. So excellent!

Beautiful. I love the way it looks like the foreground image is actually laying above the background and casting a shadow
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Beesknees67 In reply to coldnsteel [2007-04-29 06:24:35 +0000 UTC]
Thank you...the shadow was created by copying the shape layer, moving it down a bit and changing the gradient to black. I did it as an afterthought and I'm glad I did...I think it has more interest now.
