Description

The Siberian chipmunk or common chipmunk (Eutamias sibiricus) is the only one of the 25 chipmunk species which lives outside America. Rather unsurprisingly, it lives in Siberia - and more specifically, from central Russia down to China, South Korea and northern Japan. They were also popular pets in the 1960's, which has resulted in some feral populations in central Europe. The pet trade has since been banned, and the species is now on the EU's invasive species list.

The species lives in a wide variety of habitats, from agricultural land to mountains. This, together with the species living in and being common in such a large area, means it's considered Least Concern.

I didn't know chipmunks lived outside North America, and certainly not in Asia! This, together with the critter being cute, meant it had to be drawn. Also, look at this fluffy tail
