First of I'll say this is an amazing piece of imagery...maybe the best I've ever seen, it's pure class indeed....
Worthy of a DD?...hehe..probably wipes the floor with most I have seen..ever....truly superb work!!!
Once upon a time, I was a fairly ok manipper, even taught a few cool people about lighting. What makes a great manip is basically this...the idea is of foremost of importance, but equally the lighting of the stocks used, blended ...but mainly lighting. You can cut the best, compose the best...but if you 'light ' it rubbish..it doesn't work....this is amazing...sublime!!!!
I know the work that has gone into the rain detail too....I am in awe of this piece...it's the best single piece of manipping I've seen...just beautiful.
I'll stop typing now...& go stare at the individual stocks that you made this with ....& think...OMG...really!!!
Sublime work!!!

This is one fine image you have made. From the quality of the piece itself, to the beautifully depressing story that can be seen within the picture without showing or using any form of words.
Most people are familiar with the term "a picture is worth a thousand words," but I feel as though most people don't really express that term as much within certain art pieces. This picture is the perfect example of a picture expressing a thousand words. There is so much imagery to express what exactly is going on within the picture, I don't even need to look at the title to understand what is happening.
I also love it for how much I can truly relate to the picture. While my loss for a girl probably doesn't really relate to what is going on within the picture (it seems to me that the girl has died, but it's not my picture so I don't know) but I have experienced the loss of a relationship in some way. In that matter I feel as though a picture is best when someone can relate to it as well as being able to understand what is going on within the picture, thus leaving a bigger impact within the viewer.
The only thing that I can say against it, is that this concept has been done so many times before and is not fully original. But with that said, there is nothing wrong with taking an idea that has been done before and making it better than anyone ever expects, which I feel like you've done here. I love it, I love it, I love it! Well done.

Just saw this today, and was just awe-struck. Marvin-Clair said the words that first popped into my mind, but the beauty of this piece is that it not only applies to love, but to loss in general. Little over a year ago now, I lost a good friend to bone cancer. Whilst it wasn't a relationship like you might have with a lover, we were friends none the less, but he was a good friend, and though you move on, you still feel the loss. I do not usually do critique's, but seeing this, and being able to relate to a real life situation, I had to do one. I envy your skill and expect great works to come from you in the future. Bravo!

this is simply amzing! Every detail was well thought out and made a great impression. This piece is very clever in delivering a surreal look of sorrow of a guy missing his girl in a matching envrioment. the somber colors were very well accenting to both each other and the one standing out color of red in the rose. i especially love the setting, how it's raining like what this man must feel inside on his heart and from his pose to his expression help deliver that impression on the person viewing the artwork. i love this! keep it up!

it takes my breath away!
I honestly cant say a bad thing.
I LOVE the lighting coming through the rain in the distance, that could be interperated that either his loved one is looking down upon him, OR that beyond the pain there will be light again.
The soft glow upon the edges of his body contrasting with the darkness just speak volumes. The detail is breathtaking.
I love the rose, it adds a touch of color to an otherwise dark world and lends to many interpretation by each viewer.
The rain is beautifully done, the depth is gorgeous.
AMAZING work!

It is better to have loved and lost than never to have love or loss at all. This image really hits the heart. Being somebody who has loved and lost, I know how hard it is to continue on. Not only is the rain a nice touch on the emotion that is pouring from this image, but the bright red of the rose is a very nice depiction of a bleeding wound.
The lean of his body, as well as the slumping forward of his shoulders, is very suggestive of a heavy weight upon him and I like that a lot. Even though his head is bowed, you can still clearly see the overall emotion in his face.
I love how the viewers can make a connection to this picture. I can look at it and see the same feeling I felt. I can see me in his shoes. This reflection is very important and with the city behind the steady flow of rain, which I'm sure is commonly referred to as the tears, it reflects a bigger picture. One man in a large world. You can have everything but lose it in a matter of moments.
The only thing that I would really ask of the artist for the bench, not the rose. to be blurred a slight bit as well, just to outline the male's figure a tad more.
Overall, very well done. One of my favorites.

this piece is really emotive. you capture the viewer immediately with your clever combination of this intimate moment contrasting with the overall desolate mood. technically this piece is brilliant and really convincing. overall your great concept outshines technique. you have created a strong connection between the viewer and character , not an easy task! my only suggestion would be to consider losing the rose. i think its colour draws alot away from the photo. and in a way is overly sentimental and romantised but in general i love this piece. the clothing add greatly to this especially the cane. not to mention your brilliant landscape and perfect rain.

I think without the rose, it would have lost some of it's meaning. "Why is this guy, randomly sitting in the rain like an emo? Wtf?" is the question that pops in mind. As is, it's simplicity tells me everything I need to know, and doesn't make it seem odd or out of place.

A good critique although for me the rose really works: blood red emphasizing pain, injury, a wound. I imagine that this will be one of those purely subjective things: some will like it some won't.
I also think the title really helps one immediately get into this powerful image (well it did for me.)

Yep. The rose to me seemed to relate to lost love. All in all, this is a touching piece.
