Description Bleeehhhh here it is! My first attempt at painting a person. Poor Willy, his eyes are crooked and mishapen, his face is too long, and he's got craaaaazy eyebrows! Oh well, when I look at it from the nose down I actually feel ok about it! Uh....at least the colors are bright and pretty! Wee!

Anyway, I think I might try doing portrait in arylics again, but not for a while. This one wasn't so bad blending the shading in the face since he's so pale, but I'm a bit afraid to try one with some real shading in the face. Me and blending don't get along. Any critiques or suggestions about acrylics are, as always, welcomed and loved and adored and cherished and all that.

This is great! I can't paint for SHIT!! I can only draw with Sharpies or colored pencils, but am not one with the paint brush...

I am definitely more comfortable with pencils myself, but I like to experiment with different mediums now and then. Thank you for the comment, it's very encouraging!

This is very well done considering it's the first time you've painted a person! I can't paint for crap, I'm sure mine would look like a stick figure compared to this. I really like the blending of the background colors

Hahah thank you! I used Liquitex acrylics. Mostly just mixed primaries till I got the colors I wanted (paint is too damn expensive to buy specific colors!)

Acrylics are really hard to blend, but what works really well is a retardant....its a chemical that slows down the drying of the paint, since acrylics do dry really quickly. The painting is awesome!

No, seriously. Don't be afraid to do this or that...because I used to be totally afraid to ink and color my drawings. Now I'm starting to do it again, and it's getting easier and easier...just practice till you drop, hun!

It is great!! The eyebrows are fine, he has got them like this, really. I like the way his hat turned out, because of the canvas. And the lips are ... ohh, dear! *kisses the screen*
