Oh yeah, I forgot about that. That's a good song by Rammstein
In swedish it means "run" instead.

... Rammstein ... yea, nice band, I guess I would like it much more if they wouldn't sing german ... yea, strange, I know
run is also cool

I have the same problem with bands that sing in Swedish. It doesn't sound so good many times. Since I don't know german too good I guess I don't have a problem with that
But on the other hand, if I translate a song with english lyrics to Swedish I can promise that 90% they would appear as mentally challenged.

... I guess there are at least two different sorts of music listeners: one listens more to the rhythm and melody and the other one follows more the lyrics without carrying much about the first ones (and those tend to listen only their own language)Β ... I definitely belong to the first one ... and since my english got better during the years, I even hate it sometimes when I understand itΒ ... the singing belongs in my world to a kind of instrument ...Β so there aren't much german bands that I like

Azph In reply to Spiritofdarkness [2015-01-04 08:18:30 +0000 UTC]
I agree with you, the song should be considered an instrument.
If you focus too much on the lyrics, isn't it better to read a book instead?

yeap ... not to mention how disturbing it can be if you read a book during you listen it

Yeah, exactly. I have my little reading soundtrack that works very good.
Book reading... Gotta come back to that. I haven't read a book in ages.

... my dream is to get back the reading ability I had before my surgeries ... and in the last time tv got so bad here, it mutated to a permanent zapping or watching something that's already seen ... it's a senseless sitting in front of the tv

Same here, but I only recently got netflix so I have a couple of series to plow through.
But I really have to start reading again, listening to books isn't the same by far. And now I got a heap of books that I know I will like.

The last book I read was Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds. After I read the first chapters I wentΒ and bought the rest of the books in that series. So the rest of the books are on my prio list now.
And about everything done by Richard Kadrey to

thanks a lot, Richard Kadrey sounds cool, a bit of cyberpunk that I still don't know
I also stepped about Alastair Reynolds ... but didn't really checked it out, maybe I should
one of the coolest cyberpunk stuff I've read was Jeff Noon, Vurt and Pollen
Neal Asher Agent Cormac series is also quite cool

I dont know if you have played the mass effect games but I felt that the storyline for those games have borrowed some of the elements from Revelation Space. (And I love both).

Thanks for the tips, will check them out tonight!

I remember when I bought the first OL book. That golden cover caught my eye and I thought that this will either be awesome or a total waste of time!
just came up with two more good book series: The Witcher and Metro 2033.

I didn't understand when I checked him out, is his books fiction?
π: 0 β©: 1
Spiritofdarkness In reply to Azph [2015-01-13 16:49:35 +0000 UTC]
that's something that no one really knows ... it depends on you how you want to understand it and how you're interpreting itΒ ... you can read it as a novel or you can read it as something philosophical or as kind of shamanistic tutorial,Β peyote ...
"The books, narrated in the first person, relate his experiences under the tutelage of a Yaqui "Man of Knowledge" named Don Juan Matus. His 12 books have sold more than 28 million copies in 17 languages. Critics have suggested that they are works of fiction; supporters claim the books are either true or at least valuable works of philosophy and descriptions of practices which enable an increased awareness." (wikipedia)
... therefore, because it's so ... well, unclear ... it took a wile until I've dared to read this stuff. However, depending on you how you interpret it, it also depends on you how cool it is

I like books where it is up to the reader to decide on what is real and not.

Spiritofdarkness In reply to Azph [2015-01-17 09:31:12 +0000 UTC]
yea, that's right ... but much worse is that the majority of the readers don't tend to scrutinize the stuff they read
