Description
Finally it is done, possibly my greatest picture to date. I always said I would continue my work on pre-Equestra history and here it is!. All painted with the standard soft round brush. The armor was the highlight of the picture for me, it both represents the nations culture that they were forged in and the personalities of the wearers themselves.

The story goes that a few thousand years before the modern Equestria was discovered by the traveling ponies. there were two races of pony, one of fire and one of ice. For many years these two powerful and advanced races fought a war against each other. The ice ponies possessed ancient magic and control over the formation of ice and the fire ponies, with no natural magic were masters of technology and forging. The war lasted hundreds of years in that time the young prince Night shadow rose to power after the death of his father he was young, idealistic and had dreams of ending the war in his reign and to see peace across the land. Meanwhile back in the land of fire, after the assassination of the emperor by one of his own advisers it was time for the princess Ember to take the throne the land of fire was known for its ruthless military and weapons of war. Backstabbing and political power struggles were widespread, each ambitious young pony looking to replace the one above.

Although young the princess had an eye for tactics she still represented her people over herself, she was possibly the closest the land of fire would come to a leader wishing peace. Eventually through the battles the two met, at first in battle but before long they would become curious about the other. It was then the first time in a few hundred years that the offer of talks were given. As they talked now and again the two grew close.

Unfortunately for the two as feelings began to grow between them and mutual respect paved way for romance, the fire advisers had other plans. with the latest peace talks the word on everyone's mind. The military adviser used the opportunity to instead capture the new king and imprison him on the wall for all his troops to see. Suspecting he was betrayed by the only pony he trusted when she came to him to explain what happened he yelled at her and told her "I will never love you, you are a monster!"
This shattered the young princesses heart as he told her he never wanted to look upon her again. She ran to the palace and remained there for three days shut away from the world. As the war escalated around her.
