I recently came back to deviantart after life calmed down and at first I had no idea what was going on but recently, I finally had enough points to hold a contest where I can giveaway a 3 month PM only to find CORE...needless to say I was pissed off and annoyed since I then went to research it, wondering if a notice was put out the year I was away and nup. Just a random change.
I don't mind a logo change...just as long as you tell us and we, your paying customers, like it. Price increase on the other hand with no added benefits is just stupid.
...not too impressed with dA currently since it prevents a lot of people from getting memberships or holding contests/giveaways to give other members a chance to earn one.

Exactly. And their attitude seems to be "well if you can't afford it you probably shouldn't need to purchase it" and similar crap like that. -_- It's like they were asking to lose income.

I know! A lot of people on dA are kids/teens who actually don't have an income since they actually aren't old enough to join the workforce so giveaways are a good chance for them to try and earn one but nooo dA raises the prices so less people hold those giveaways which decrease the number of people trying out a membership (which might I add, might make them like it and purchase another when they run out) which in turn decreases their income >.>

I know, right?? They're being so foolish about this, it's not even funny. Professionals should know better than this, seesh.

I took around a year break from deviantart. Needless to say, I was real unimpressed to find that dA messed with their coding work again (especially for custom boxes/widgets), doubled their prices and added the damn orange logo next to my name. I agree with you that the white star was perfect.Β

I have a question
Would you prefer a orange circle for the Core logo?

I'd prefer a white star WITHOUT anything orange whatsoever anywhere.

Ok I'm trying to collect views on what people would prefer as a new logo.

Yeah, it's probably meant to catch the eye so people will look at their accounts or something like that, honestly I'd prefer a light blue but that's just my preference in color and habit of having stuff blending in with the back round. Quick question, (Of course if you chose to answer) if it was up to you what would the Core logo look like? I know now that you are not keen on some aspects of Core, but putting that aside what would it look like if it was up to you?

And not to mention that it seems like they have taken away Lifetime Premiums.

I find the "changes" argument ironic for a Tumblr user, just sayin'. That site doesn't even bother to announce layout changes unless they're extremely significant. I mean, this green Z at least beats that hipster rainbow shit from Tumblr.
Also, the easiest way to boycott Core is to not even pay for it. I've seen so many anti-Core journals, but the thing that comes off as off-putting is the fact y'all view paid subscriptions as "essential". Why? You even said so yourself that 98% if it nothing of interest. Yes, I agree that doubling the prices is ridiculous and unfair, and if they were going to do it at least make it more appealing.

Yes, but I also do not pay to use Tumblr and they do not show an obnoxious amount of ads, plus I can easily adjust the site to my liking. XD
The changes is just one among the rest though. What most bugs me is the way they aren't being smart about what they do.
For my deviantArt experience, the paid subscription was pretty essential, even if I couldn't use much of the perks. Biggest reasons being the no-Ads and the possibility change my username (which I'm yet to do). I continued to pay out of the goodness of my heart though. But this, rising up the prices.. no way. At least give us more and better usable perks in that case!

As for the obnoxious Tumblr ads, I've seen them but on the blog's actual page. Not that I'd go there often. I usually stick to my dashboard or explore blogs on the app only. Yeah, I agree about the foolish choices. A lot of people all generally want the same thing, in this case they feel the doubling of the price is unfair since nothing of value is added.
The ads tend to be based on what you search. I tend to get nursing school, regular products (like cars, or cleaning products) or random ads in Spanish. None of which are anything "offensive", but yeah they're really annoying on mobile.Β The best perks from a paid membership are, in my opinion: 120 deviations per page, ability to create subfolders, ability to queue submissions, and I guess the username? But I can do without most of these and it has not affected how I enjoy the site. The Ad-Block seems suffice, though I have never used it.

Exactly. I admit to being tempted of using adblock. The 120 deviations a page option was one of the more important perks for me, though admittedly it wasn't worth even the $30. If only they gave us many new, great and usable perks in turn, then I could see paying the $50 for it.
