"I was hot on Helstrom’s heels as the earthquake shook the very ground beneath our feet, but I was still too late. I heard the crack of a huge tree toppling to the ground, and I lunged back just in time to keep it from crushing me. I clambered over it, but Helstrom was too far ahead, and I entered the cave just in time to see him shove off from the shore in the lifeboat.

Suddenly, the waters in the cave began to boil with a new fury as something huge ascended from beneath them. A vicious predatory head ascended from the depths, atop a long, reptilian neck. Spying Helstrom, the monster instantly snapped up the unlucky villain, and swallowed him alive before submerging without a sound!

The now-unmanned boat bobbed in the waves like a cork, but to my relief, the current was sending it drifting back towards the shore. By the time Hilda, Charlie, and Englehorn arrived, the boat had reached me, and we clambered aboard just in time."
