Description
Our tabby boy, he will be 7 years old in June. One of our "middle children", always hungry-he loves to eat .He found us with half his tail bitten/torn/cut off (we don't know what happened), in the winter time, 6 years ago. The rest of the tail had to be amputated because it was already infected so now he has a lynx/rabbit tail. Nobody wanted to adopt him, probably because the little of the tail that was left had no fur due to surgery and that didn't look very appealing. As months passed, he became part of our family. His fur grew back and he has the cutest little tail now.
Done with charcoal and charcoal pencils-started drawing him about the same time as I did our oldest black boy, finished yesterday.

I had a grey tabby (though he browned a bit as he aged) that lived to be almost 19 years old. He was kind of a catdog, he'd come when you called him and easily sacrificed his "aloof" for company. I got him from a friend when he was just weaned, he died long ago & I miss him still.
Loved animals should live as long as the people they love that love them. Great Queen Stubby is 17.5 and I worry about her all them.

This boy is what I call a forest tabby (grey with nuances of brown, especially the fur on the belly)-His camouflage is unbeaten at dusk even if he is out in the yard under supervision, I sometimes loose sight of him, his fur just blends with every plant
The girl (on my other drawing) is a light grey tabby.
Sounds like your boy had a good and long life...call me stupid or sentimental but I am convinced he's hanging around the Rainbow Bridge, waiting, in this form or the other.
I totally agree with you about their life span but I refuse to think about it.
...now, about Her Highness-you know I still owe you something, right?
