DC's first Robotman (Robert Crane, a scientist whose brain was placed in a robotic body after he was mortally wounded) was created by Jerry Siegel (yes, the same as Superman!) and Leo Nowak. and debuted in 'Star Spangled Comics' #7 April 1942.
But today's cover features Cliff Steele, DC's second (and best known!) Robotman - he was created by writers Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and artist Bruno Premiani, and first appeared in My Greatest Adventure #80 (1963) ) along with the rest of the Doom Patrol.
Machine Man appeared in '2001, A Space Odyssey' #8 in July 1977, created by none other than Jack 'King' Kirby.
I really enjoyed the HBO Max series 'Doom Patrol' (2019-2022). Sadly, the series ended in the fourth season. I would like to see Cliff Steele and his companions in a solo film by DC. It doesn't hurt to dream!
