Slowly catching up to posting on these two!
Ok.. heres the backstory.

If you're familiar with Nart, you know there are some characters who's designs include painted face markings. mHFMSDMG in similar art fashion, Shinsen also paints his face! In fact,, he almost always paints his face. Even when off-duty. He will not leave the house without some sort of painted face markings. It's a comfort thing for him. He doesn't really,, like his own face, and though it is not always the case, you can usually tell on days when he's feeling bad about himself because he'll use more paint to hide the things he doesn't like about himself. (Though sometimes on special occasions he will get a bit creative and just use a lot of paint for decorative effect, and he'll be feeling perfectly fine.)

Excerpt from his th:
"He will always paint his face before going out into public. Even if its just a simple pattern. He will only hang around people he knows and trusts while his face is unpainted, and it is probably the thing he is most timid about since he is very exuberant and outgoing in all other cases. The only 2 people who have ever seen his face without the paint on, are Raiki, his best friend, and his mom who, though she doesn't understand why he does this, supports him anyway and buys him more whenever he runs out."

Anyway,, since he trusts Raiki a lot, they eventually started this habit of Raiki occasionally going over to Shinsen's house on some mornings, to help him paint fun new patterns on his face. The ones he really likes he draws and saves in a little book he keeps. A history of previous patterns and favorite colors. That way he can go back and use them again later. Raiki will sometimes end up painted as well.
