If I were you, I'd definitely get a "real" camera (although the iPhone is pretty good itself) when I had the money. Considering your skill, I'd want something that would let me experiment with my photography more. The main things I'd look for is something that can shoot in P, S, A, and M(anual) modes and in RAW. Any DSLR and most, if not all, ILC cameras should be able to do this. For point-and-shoots, there's the Olympus XZ-1, Sony RX100, Canon S95, Panasonic LX7, etc.
