Like, I understand what it's about and stuff, but I don't understand how you're supposed to know what's going on or what kind of character is appropriate. Maybe you can explain that?

Mostly you find out what's going on by reading the scenes, and getting to know the other players! Also, the wiki might be helpful. What sort of characters...there are usually posts about that, or talk to the staff, who are always happy to help!

That's the way I feel about my "rehearsals", I rather put them in the shredder (which I do). But sometimes there's a gem hidden waiting to be worked out.

OH, I almost never actually throw away my drawings, unless they're utterly stupid. I don't know...I always feel like I'll get inspiration from it later, you know? Anyhow, I'm so shy when it comes to my art lately, it ALL looks horrible to me!

Ah, but I *do* agree with you on that they can be inspiration for later. I don't throw my sketches right away. What I do is this: When I've made a pile of sketches, I put them in a box and I won't look at them for a while. Because I would be prejudiced and think they're horrible. Then (after a month or two) when I'm in the mood for it, I'll look through them and weed the good (the interesting) from the bad ones (or: the blah opnes). Sometimes I just cut them out with scissors and paste them on a blank paper. After it's done, I punch holes in the paper and put them in a map. The leftovers, the stupid drawings are food for the shredder.

I do much the same thing, only with scanning. I scan them into the computer, and then toss the original. This was a good plan until I lost my hard drive with all of my art and writing since High School....
