Yea i was an avid DeviantArt user for like 10 years. I had a Premium membership (someone gave it to me) but nowadays Facebook and Instagram are the way to go
Side note; funny your Australian. I met a penpal friend here on DA years ago who was from Australia as well! Kind folks you are!

Yeah same. But now DA seems to be declining in popularity. I don't see the point in premium/core membership now except for having separate sub galleries.
I usedΒ to talk to way more people on here than I do now too.
But slowly people I used to talk to almost all daily stopped logging in.

There was a lively community on here; i had friends from all over the world here, sharing art tips and even becoming 'internet' pals. I still log in strict, every day and hope to meet friendly, artistic people.
We could chat on different channels then this one? Like FB or something?

It seems the demographic on here has changed a lot over the years.
There's way more people posting selfies and random crap that isn't even remotely art.
I actually had to turn on SFW mode because I kept seeing selfies of peoples genitals every time I visited the homepage. It was kinda disgusting.
I know stuff like that has been a main reason a lot of people have drifted off to other sites.
I had to turn off the messaging button on my fb page cause I was getting heaps of spam to my inbox.
BUT it appears a new feature for fb pages. If someone comments on your post, you can then message them a reply.... So maybe if you comment on something, I can msg you on there?

I know what you mean. The frontpage is filled with people posting photos in bathroom-crap. I wander about 11 years here on DA, i reported the hell out of everything in the beginning. Then i saw that DA doesn't really do anything about, so i stopped reporting. And started losing interest.

I knew someone from DA that was from Sydney. I even had plans to come over on vacation (rent a motorcycle) and cross along the country. Sadly, that didn't happen.
I know it's friggin hot in Melbourne. That's a start, heh.

Well it was really hot for a few days last week (35 degrees)... But other than that, it's only just starting to warm up for us from winter.
Melbourne it can be both raining and freezing cold, and then suddenly 40 degrees all in one day. Unpredictable would be the best word to describe it. Or indecisive haha.

i hear ya! You think that's bad? Try the Netherlands. Out here our closet is packed with all the types of clothes in the world. You never know what the weather might be in an hour.
It changes every hour. In the morning you might be walking in rays of sunshine, the next a friggin cold blizzard hits your face. Winters are half hot/half ice age. Summers are half volcano/half tsunami.

Yeah Melbourne is kinda the same but not quite as extreme I don't think.
It does get pretty frustrating though. Having to bring a jacket in 40 degree weather "Just in case"....
Because you'll bring a jacket every time, not need it. The one time you don't, you'll regret it.

I wear multiple layers of clothing, just in case. And if not, i'm fucked. Pretty used to having rain drop on my head with a wife beater on haha.
