Yeah backups are a bitch. I've now got 500 GB drive backing up the photos on a 750GB drive, but It was always the plan to burn dvd's. Only with 500GB of photos it'll take a while. I think a RAID system is the only way to go. It allows for updating of folders and multiple backups. It's just not cheap.
So since your stuff is mostly on track again when are we gonna see some new shots? hehe

hmm.. I have a session with a group this coming saturday so hopefully i have some great shots to share
wish if there was only a easier solution to making backups hehe but HDD's are getting cheaper nowadays, but then files are always jacking up the MB's with all those megapixels..

Indeed with the megapixels. I think for the trip, I'll take two small cheap 250GB's, or buy them there. It's almost like RAID if you backup your stuff on 3 small 250's hehe, not that I can have money for a third, but the best shots I might backup on my ipod or something. I leave September 3rd. Any chance you'll come to Bali for New Years? Trying to plan a trip with a friend photographer of mine to circumvent (is that the right word?) the island.

well first.. i'm not even sure how small cheap and 250GB's can be in the same sentence. all 250's here are freaking expensive hehe.

well we've got some tiny ones here for 60 euros. That's cheap for me nowadays. It's still quite a bit of money. I decided I'm gonna get one in Jakarta, hoping it'll cost the same or less. Decided I didn't want to spend too much money so taking a spindle of a 100 dvd's I still had and a nice case logic 70 disc case. So guess I'll be making dvd backups. The question is how much will I shoot. I might still end up buying two 250's, but at least I still have enough discs to backup. And those discs will last at least 10 years or so, and by then I'll probably have my RAID room hehe. By the way you do know you should just buy drives and then get the housing separate? With big drives like 500, it saves you a lot of money.
I realized I have to go to my cousin's soccer tournament in Taipei. It's the same tournament I played in senior year and got gold hehe. It's the international schools against each-other. I wanted to make a documentary about international school life, with the climax at this tournament. Not sure if I'm still going to do it on video, but will definitely take my computrekker with lenses and bodies along. Why doesn't Air Asia fly to Taipei though? Bali's going through no matter what. If you can drop by let me know.

let me check.. how much is 60 euros.. 4k pesos.. you can easily get a 250 with that price.. but with 4k bucks that's still huge money for me hehe. I actually have a generic enclosure which has a 160GB laptop drive inside. that's pretty much ok for my setup right now.. I'm feeling the lack of extra storage though hehe..

D80's been good so far. It already took some beating after all the abuse 
regarding lenses, I have spent a lot on the body that I forgot to save some for buying lenses. The kit lens served me well and I have a 50 1.8 on my arsenal so I'm ok with what I have now. But I'm really salivating for that 24-70 2.8G hehehe
I'm doing more photography. I've done studio and events, but I'm not completely comfortable yet with lights. Slowly but surely I'll get there..

24-70 2.8 is nice. Have one now with a 5D. Also managed to save up for the 70-200 2.8 IS (VR) and 100 2.8 Macro. Although the 24-70 is beautiful for it's 2.8 it's quite large, the same is the case with Nikon. The reach is also a bit short, that's why it's nice that canon has a 24-105 4.0 IS (VR). Ideally they would make a 24-105(or 135) 2.8 IS (VR) hehe.
50 1.8 is nice. Especially from nikon. Have the same from canon, but I think the nikon might be a bit better. Although at 5.6 the canon is as sharp as any lens can be. Quite a bit of barreling lower down. I shoot mainly at 2.8, and it's not soft at all. It is plastic though, that's why the nikon's is also nicer. I really wouldn't mind having the nikkor 50 1.4 on my canon. Beautiful lens. Although I've already set my sites on the 50 1.2 L. Was hoping to win it in a comp, but lucked out. Got to the final round, but didn't come through. So couldn't win 2200 euros worth of lenses hehe. the 50 1.2 is next on my list. You realize that a lot of the best portraits are taken with the 50, and if I had only one lens it would probably be that one, because you can use it in any situation (especially at night without flash).
Did you take a class, or did you just start working. Although the internet is class enough I think. Watch out with the cleaning. A friend of mine just tried to clean his mirror with one of those spray cans and a whole load of crap came out and he ended up paying pentax to clean it for him. The only thing I take near my sensor is one of those squeeze blowers.
But yeah buy only FX top of the line glass from now on, cuz the lenses you'll probably keep forever and bodies will come and go. You probably have it all thought out. I'm so happy to just have good glass in my bag now. You know that if the shot doesn't happen it's really just your own fault hehe.
