Hey Noah, my pleasure, really.
Got your interview with Chris Oatley playing as I'm working on some sweet line art concepts for an art test. Β -Nuts how we can be so far removed and yet so close as a community. Β Hope life in Australia's going well for you and you've settled in well. Β
All my best to you, your new project and life. Β Hope to catch around you someday!

Not a bad gallery dude! Thanks a lot for the kind words, I'm always glad to help out.
In my humble opinion, your stuff is getting to professional level. You're getting form to show, and your designs are starting to look cool and realistic.
I'd love to see your ideas, though. Upload more of your sketches along with finished work. Show people how many ideas you explored before getting to your final one, and justify the choices you've made. If you wanna be a concept artist, they pay for your ideas, not your render.
And as far as render goes, if I were you, I'd focus on my anatomy. Getting a face to read right is crucial when designing people. Also, focus on consistency in your shape language.Take a look at character designs in Wakfu. They're simple, yet every race has a consistent shape language. Repetition is a core design principle.
And last but not least, make a conscious effort to figure out focal points and rest areas. Pick two to three areas where your design is gonna sing, leave the rest close to blank. Don't machine-gun everything with detail. ZOOM OUT! You will see where you have too much detail and where you need to add more.
You'll improve by leaps and bounds if you focus on those things, man. Good luck!

Too kind mate, I'm honoured! Please note, I'm back to studying fundamentals atm, so keep an eye on my blog if you can. Otherwise I'll be doing some real concepts later this year!

Hehe, sadly I have a day job that keeps me busy. My spare time IS my studies. But don't worry, I'm gonna be making some really cool stuff when I return!

I think you have strong concepts and nice painting ability in general. If dig into anatomy studies and life drawing, I'm certain your art would flourish.

Hey thanks buddy! I feel the same way actually. I see my biggest weakness atm is anatomy and dynamic posing. Keep in touch and thanks for the encouragement!

No problem! Here are some links and resources you might find useful. [link] I highly recommend the books from Andrew Loomis and James Gurney.

HAha. I'm good dude. Just got my head down with other things. I'll be posting a painting I did today, very soon, keep your eyes peeled. It's very different from the usual stuff, but I'm using all the same methods.
