Thanks for the birthday wishes 2Loose.
Unfortunately I am only just getting over a chest infection so it was a pretty quiet day.
Hope you and the pups are all well and looking forward to Christmas.

I hope you had a fantastic birthday despite the respiratory infection.  Be well, be safe, be happy!

I hope your cats are doing well.  As for my three pups, they keep me occupied and spending freely!  The little ingrates.

I wish you and Tom a fantastic Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

BTW, do you have plans to post any images on dA?   I miss them.

Thanks for your thoughts. Same to you and I hope 2019 brings you all you wish for.
I think we spend more on our cats than we do on ourselves so can understand the 'spending freely'.
Three are now on special diets.... but we love them to bits, so it's a joy to see them happy and healthy.

Am not sure I will get back to rendering, I have no plans to at the moment... but never say never

Thank you, my friend.

I understand the expense of animal companions, too.  My three dogs get good food, good veterinarian care, and frequent trips to the groomer.  It adds up.  And now two of 'em need a trip to the dog dentist.  Yikes!  But they're worth it.  ha ha

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll post on dA some day.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,

Gene and the pups

Thank you. Was in the UK on the third day of a training course. Just got back to a cold Gozo.... not much warmer than London

2Loose2Trek In reply to dylazuna [2016-12-07 00:38:39 +0000 UTC]

More pilates training?  The last time I visited London, was in 1970 when I sauntered over to Elephant & Castle to purchase a new Norton 750.  The motorcycle dealer dismissed me with a haughty snort.  How could I be so presumptuous to think I could just waltz in and buy a Norton.  I managed a Triumph TR6C.  ha ha  On another note I suspect that London has changed a tad since those days.

I hope that your weather warms and that you and Tom can celebrate Christmas on the beach this year.

dylazuna In reply to 2Loose2Trek [2016-12-07 10:51:26 +0000 UTC]

Not exactly. It was organised through my Pilates  organisation but based on Tom Myers anatomy trains as presented by James Earls. This video is a lecture based version of the 3-day workshop, except the workshop was based on walking function rather than the back bend focus for the circus performers. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPyEHx…

London these days is full of and mostly run by immigrants'. Will probably grind to a halt once the Brexiters toss them all out

Christmas on the beach is on the plans. How about you?

Thanks for the link.  I started to watch the video but, due to lack of time, wasn't able to see all of it.   I'll watch the remainder in short order.  Pretty cool.

To be honest, I celebrated when Brexit was passed.  However, the globalists won't give up easily.  I'm waiting, with 'bated breath, to see if Theresa May eventually invokes Article 50.  Will she?  Have you seen this video?  www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ITbhT…

Unfortunately, most of the people I've, in the past, celebrated Christmas with are now dead or dying.  Guess I and the pups will be content to spend time with the neighbors.  I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Not seen that particular video, but then we are pro EU.
Unfortunately there was a lot of misinformation and 'propaganda' around and most people relied on the popular press rather than investigating how the EU actually works for themselves.
Isolationism seems to be a backlash to the years of political correctness, which has definitely gone too far, but burning bridges is not the answer; especially when UK will possibly end up with all the restrictions and expense of the EU without any input to policy as is the case of Norway and Switzerland.

From this side of the pond, things don't look much better in US

Enjoy your Christmas and lets hope 2017 proves to be much better globally than current predictions.

2Loose2Trek In reply to dylazuna [2016-12-12 21:30:35 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha ... I'll leave the current EU issues to the people living there.  None of my business really, although I'll admit to being entertained.

However, here in the Colonies (that's how many Londoners referred to the US back in the 60s) I'd have to say that we've narrowly escaped disaster.  Had the Hildebeast (Hillary Clinton) been elected we were promised a nuclear holocaust with Russia. (I can explain that but it would take a few pages)  Trump, however, says that he wants to do business not promote war.  And I'm all for that.  Unfortunately, the power elite behind Clinton haven't given up.  That I'm a bit anxious about a Trump inauguration actually taking place on 20 January is an understatement.

On to a brighter note, the weather is beautiful again with clear skies and temps in the t-shirt range.  I had a blast riding my fat bike through the desert today ... in a t-shirt.  Yay, Arizona!

Again, here's wishin' you and Tom a super happy Christmas and awesome New Year!

Thank you very much 2Loose. Hope you (& the dogs) are well. We're slowly settling into the new house but could do with a good DIY store. I really miss that about UK!

You're most welcome DZ ... and I hope you're able to survive all of the birthday festivities.  back at you.

Natasha Badenov (shi-tzu)was just recently at the groomer's and seems quite happy with being cleaned up.  And Rocket the Flying Squirrel is quite content to fetch things for hours upon hours.  So, overall, they doing quite well as am I.

I hadn't thought about the lack of DIY stores on the island.  That could be a problem if you really like working with power tools and loads of lumber.  But I'm sure you'll find a work-around.

Happy Birthday!

Well the most festive thing was a surprise birthday cake

Good to know you are all doing well.

It's more a matter of convenience.
For example, buying replacement taps involved visiting half a dozen different shops, browsing through catalogues and then having to wait 3-4 weeks for them to arrive.
The kitchen units are a non standard height which meant that the carpenter had to spend nearly 2 hours planing away the unit so that the dish washer would fit underneath!
The joys of home ownership

Yum ... I'll bet that birthday cake was delicious.

Yep, we're doing fine -- thanks for asking. How are you, Pete, and the furry ones getting along?  Have you added some new kitties to the new house?

Wow!  Home repair must be quite a challenge.  I had no idea.  I'm guessing that hmmmm  ... well,  I'll take a wild stab that building codes have only made a very recent appearance in your neck of the woods.  Or am I wrong about that?  And I suppose life on an island results in expensive durable goods if they need to be imported as well.  I can imagine that you've made a few changes since leaving the U.K..  But the question remains.  Are you happier on the island than back in Merry Ol'?

Regarding tools and home repair.  If I need a tool or small appliance, as I really hate to drive, I just place an order on Amazon.com and, like magic, a couple of days later a package arrives at the front door.    I know that Amazon is available in England, but does it exist on Gozo?

Please accept my best wishes and a happy home and hearth.
