am afraid i dont celebrate birthdays as people do
am not a fan of birthdays ................

oh, I don't either, it's always just another day for me... for instances I really, really hate birthday singings or blowing candles...
But I respond to my friends and people who congratulates me, although most of them know that I don't celebrate the day, they think it's odd and rude not to say anything and continue to do that, I play along and do the same for them, maybe for the same reasons.
I guess there are more people that don't celebrate either for so many different
reasons and never says it.
I will try to remember it in the future, Salman don't celebrate birthdays, I respect and understand that.

Nothing much. Disappointments that grew to be shadows... so many things, it started as a child I suppose, little hurts, sorrows that seemed to be bigger that day until I decided "I'm indifferent to it".
(a small inner lie that helped).
I guess we pay attention to these things especially when we are children and teens, as we grow old that doesn't seem such a big deal no more.

well that explains alot.
but in my case its the whole idea of birthdays.......
i got a grip of the concepts fallacy .
in a nut shell : we have a feeling of not wanting death
and the more time we spend on earth the closer we get to it.
birthdays are a clocking of a year to your life; which means you just approached death, and you are celebrating. so if at all we run away from death, why celebrate approaching it?

Well, you're right on that, and it's a lot worst when people celebrate death itself... we have a lot of people doing just that,when a notorious person dies as you can see, we don't celebrate the year he/she was born, but the day he/she died... that falls in the line of what you're saying although we say we're family, fans, admirers we're glad they're dead. Creepy!!
As poets we all are a bit morbid writing around death, at least I am.
