Day Three - Sunday Dinner
Theresa huddled under the kitchen table, screened by her grandmother's long, colorful tablecloth. Her hands crept over her mouth as she heard her cousins running into the room. She stifled a giggle when Denny, the oldest at eight years, walked right past her. There was a cacophony of metallic rattles as he and the others opened the old steel cabinets in the kitchen and pantry. The two girls Patty and Lizzy ran out the side door to look in the yard and barn. Denny padded to the dining room door, then stopped. He leaned down and peered under the table.
"There you are!" Denny shouted and laughed. Theresa scrunched up her face and stuck out her tongue. She crawled out from under the table, the solid linoleum floor cool on her hands. Denny reached out and tagged her. "You're it!" he cried and slammed out the door after his sisters.
