oh, i just wanted to thank you for pointing out eric whiteacre to me... he's wonderful... plus his absolutely amazing virtual choir - unbelievable...

yea, eric whitacre is amazing. I love modern classical composers. But, I especially love turn of the century french and american composers. There music was so inginuitive!

would you give me some names? i'm interested too...
the "modernst" composers that i know and like are bela bartok (concerto for orchestra), igor strawinsky (sacre du printemps) and claude debussy (claire de lune) - ah, eric satie (some of his small, quiet piano pieces)...

I enjoy George Crumb, Charles Ives, John Cage, Clara rockmore's theremin performances. Anything with prepared piano or new approaches to playing orchestral instruments. I heard a trumpet played into a grand piano wiht the damper pedal being held down. it created some amzing tone clusters and overtones! I also heard a flute playing an atonal solo while the player sang into the pipe simultaneously. I wish i could remember the title of that piece...
