You know, that is one of my favourite paintings, when I was in college I used to go to the library a lot and look at the plates of this painting and the studies Delacroix made for it; then I read the story of Sardanapalus and I appreciated the painting even more, particularly the fire effect. I would have never connected it with my little piece, but I knew it reminded me of something...man, you just entered my subconscious!

You do really nice work! I like how you model with the white on black - thinking in terms of light, not just shadows - very effective. Your portraits are very sensitive. Keep at it!
