Really? Cool!

   Well, I basically taught myself how to draw and animate. What I did a lot when I first started was watch a certain animation (like a jump for example) on a DVD and go frame by frame. (Which you can do, depending on the brand of DVD player, press pause or advance again and again.) I would then draw each frame of animation to the best of my ability in a notebook. That way you start getting an idea of how a certain movement can be draw.

    Don't be afraid to look at other amateur or professional animators and try a recreate that animation.(But always give credit to avoid any misunderstandings.)

    I started off using the old version of Microsoft Paint drawing by mouse and then importing the frames into Windows Movie Maker. (MS paint and Movie Maker are free when you buy a PC) MS paint is simple and easy to use, but you can't do much in the detail department. It's a good program to start getting used to as an animator. That's learning the hard way though. I personally am not very good with a tablet but that's an easier route than using a mouse. Photoshop has something that MS Paint doesn't, layers. You can see your previous frame while drawing the next. In Paint I just copied the previous fame and then drew over it.(erasing the lines after I was done.)
 
    Now here is the biggy, clicking the save button every few minutes will prevent many headaches and urges the throw your laptop across the room. I've gotten caught up in my work before and have forgotten to save. When your program freezes, and it will eventually, you will hate yourself for many hours afterwards.
