Anne Bronte, isn't it? I've not read that one but I have read Agnes Grey. and its really soothing! my favorite book at the moment is Jane Eyre! I've just started reading English classics.
you have some really nice drawings. I loved them!

it is by anne. It is a much darker story than those by the other sisters, and touches on very controversial themes for the times. For instances it hints at nmarital rape which only recently has been considered a crime. when you add that plus she was a woman, in those times her writings are very controversial, but I like the bronte sisters as their protaganists are strong, practical and realistic women.

it surely sounds interesting. I think I should read it. But does not seem like agnes grey at all. It is totally different. the theme and everything.
and when it comes to the Bronte sisters, I feel that they make unequal matches i.e. matches between unequals. This is a the one thing that differentiates the Brontes' works from Jane Austen's, in my opinion. The are very bold and sharp without any typical female drawback. I hope I'm not being too big for my boots but this is exactly what I think.

I think in Agnes Grey that is perhaps the case, and in Tennant of Wildfel hall there is an unequalness of social standing as you will find out - not so much class but reputation, as well as age. I think in Jane Eyre though, the only inequality was the age difference. I read a lot of emphasis on the intellectual equality of jane and rochester; she is plain and he isn't the most handsome of men to start with and then ends up partially disfigured, but when Jane returns she is an independent woman with her own fortune, and while not of any sum near rochesters, enough to get on well and enter the society that rochester forced her into when he had the party at the house, and in the end for the time to justify thier marriage in the eyes of those more superficial. They would see Rochester as a man of status in the end marrying a woman of (now) the same circle. I do agree that the bronte women, with the exception of wuthering heights are bold and sharp, they have their flaws but they are more flaws of society rather than personality. Jane is the poor orphaned governess, and you will see the societal issues with Tennant once you read it. If you would like to further discuss any works or these, I must say I am enjoying this, and you use MSN or Yahoo messenger, drop me a note and I will add you to either and then we can chat about it. I am not sure what the time difference is, but I work at night here and correspond with an american during their day, so time zone issues are of no constraint to me really

Perhaps its true with tenant. I'll buy the book. But in Agnes Grey, there were not many inequalities in the match made at the end. She was a clergyman's daughter who became a clergyman's wife after marrying the one she loved. But in other works of the sisters, you can see that at times, when these inequalities fit together to form a stronger bond, that bond stays forever. Its somewhat like chemistry. lol The elements bond together because of their inequalities. In jane Eyre, when Jane was a governess in Thornfield hall, she looked up to Rochester as her master, her owner and respected him greatly. their enequalities are quite apparent. yes, I certainly do agree with the fact that they were quite alike intellectually. But inequalities were apparent. at the end when Jane reunites with Rochester, he has lost his fortune whereas she has acquired a handsome amount on the other hand Mr. Rochester is also partially handicapped and certainly not too superior to Jane, physically. The newer inequalities cancell the former ones and their path of love is levelled and smooth. And after so many days or perhaps first time in my tiny life I'm discussing literature, something I love earnestly with anyone. My classmates read twilight and other such books and they don't seem so much bothered about classic literature. I'm really happy that I could talk to someone who loves it like me. And don't bother about time zones. I'll give you a rough idea. when its 5:30 in India, its 7:02 in Australia. I had enquired a friend of mine oneday about what time it was at their place and she said that its like this. I'm afraid I'm available during the afternoons 2:30p.m to 6 everyday (in India). but take my Email ID
