Hi Tiberius. This looks and sounds very interesting and I've favored so I can come back and have a good read. What camera would you suggest for a amateur photographer to start off with? I've only used disposable cameras and the like, in the past and would like to step that up a notch or two and start taking quality photos. Oh and nothing too complicated to use. Any tips would be much appreciated. Cheers

I take it you're referring to my tutorial on P, A, S and M modes.

The important thing is to get a camera that has those modes, as they'll give you the flexibility to control the camera. Most of the "bridge" cameras have these modes (they're the cameras that look a bit like an SLR camera, but without the removable lens), but they don't give you as great a degree of control.

The best option will probably be to get an entry level dSLR. Both Canon and Nikon make some good models. Try a few out in the shop and see which feel best in your hands. They have the same point and shoot modes as a basic camera, but will also give you the greater control of the manual modes.
