The problem is that the overlay is absolutely a perfect match :\ I'm pretty sure the other person can make up their mind on if they want to pay someone to "reproduce" photos.

Just wanted to make a point that I make a living off of "reproducing" photos for people in my digital art. There is a market for it. The point of realism is to mimic a subject as close to a photo/reality. I request all my clients to send me photo references for commissions, but it's still art, is it not?

No, I'm sorry. Tracing a photo and filling it in with the eyedropper isn't "art". As a matter of fact, it's illegal if you don't have the permission of the artist who took the photograph you're copying. Now, I'm not saying that this is what *you're* doing, but it is what this person is doing (admittedly by them). Also, let me point out that the way I found them was through another website, where they were posting work for sale and open for commissions - without a link here, without mention of copying photos (there is a difference between copying and referencing), and without mention of the real nature of how the work is being reproduced. It was dishonesty that brought this forward, and the mods on that site already have shut down their selling thread.
So, basically, I'm finished here. I came to make sure that the person who commissioned them knew what they were getting, because I saw them being mislead on the board.

I said that it was a practice, it wasn't mine. It's not an original piece, it was eye-balled.
I took several drawing classes in college and it's not hard to do. It's even easier digitally because it's on the same screen, you don't have to bounce around your eye.
And yes, I used and eye-dropper tool to get the colors from the original photo, but that's because my skills are still very limited and my mind can't Β yet be put to screen.
With the Arabian and the cat, I just wanted to see what I could do with the tools I had before attempting imagination to screen.
