Please, don't waste your time with "Thanks for faves."

If you really want to thank me, please do so by giving me some feedback (ANYTHING that floats your boat - constructive critique is welcome too ) and/or faves on my work(s).

Also, I'm not interested at all in getting Premium membership - I would simply have no use for it. So if anyone of you is thinking about giving me one, please save your points/money...

You are reading Sapkowski's books! In polish? What did you read? Narrenturm? You know it's a bit about Czech, right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StrixCZ In reply to Yollanda [2010-05-06 05:53:50 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, no. In Czech But I love it. I've read the pentalogy about Geralt the conjurer twice so far and I guess I'll read it again someday. His world and characters are quite cruel but also... so real and alive. I was living more inside the story than in "reality" first time I was reading it

You like him too?

And yup, I've also read Narrenturm but not the two sequels yet. It's been a while since last time I've read a book (and I'm starting to miss it since I was used to read A LOT). I just got a bit busy lately but I'm calming down already and reading is definitely one of the things I want to return to

Yollanda In reply to StrixCZ [2010-05-06 08:28:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, i have read it and loved it. Do you know there is a computer game based on the books? [link] -first part, [link] , [link] - second part. There was also a movie done but it was just horrible. It was a murder done on the book...

I can lend you some nice books in english if you want
I highly reccomend Terry Pratchett's books

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StrixCZ In reply to Yollanda [2010-05-06 15:31:10 +0000 UTC]

Yup, I've heard about the game but I feel like leaving my gaming times behind... Free time is quite precious to me these days and there's so many better things to do. And I'd be more than surprised if the games were able to have the spirit of the books anyway - I loved how Geralt's character evolved and changed throughout the books and I guess (correct me if I'm wrong) the games are pure action with no real effort to tell a story...

I've seen one or two parts of the short Polish TV series about Geralt (I'm not sure if that's what you mean by the movie - haven't heard about it yet) and even though it was a bit boring it wasn't really bad for sure (at least IMO) - at least I appreciated it had quite nice atmosphere and it wasn't made in the bombastic hollywood style (which I think killed The Lord of the Rings movie). But somehow I didn't manage to see all the parts (I rarely watch TV) so I can't really judge it.

And I've actually read Terry Pratchett's first book - The Color of Magic and I liked it (even though I've read better but many people said to me they love some of his books while they consider some other quite boring and the first one is said not to be the best) Gonna read some more when I have a chance but probably not in English - that's too time consuming for me

So what do you do all the time?

Tomorrow will be my first day of work, after coming back to Poland, so keep your fingers crossed

There was a movie : [link]

And a series : [link]

I havent seen the series, so i will cannot judge them, but the movie was extremely boring

StrixCZ In reply to Yollanda [2010-05-06 20:04:30 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm paying all the debts from my short (almost) one year bussiness career (Fortunatelly only to my family, not loan sharks but still not a very pleasant situation...) which means I got a "regular" job and I work as a graphics designer (sounds noble but it's not very creative in fact) 9 hours a day 5 days a week. I should be happy I got quite a well paid job (I was ready to accept almost any offer I would get at the time.) but still... I feel a bit like a dog chained to his kennel since I can't quit the job in a near future yet I barely do some other things than working/eating/sleeping during the week and weekends are sooo short...

I can't imagine I would spent the rest of my life (until retirement) like that. I crave for freedom, I want to travel the world, explore places, meet people, find myself, LIVE...

And I have to postpone these dreams (or at least some of them) until I earn enough money to pay my dues which can take 2 or 3 years I guess...

Trading freedom for money... We are living in a strange world, aren't we?

Anyway, I'm starting to babble already So, good luck in your new job and I hope you'll like it Hope to hear back from you soon (What is your job if I may know?). Good night

Yollanda In reply to StrixCZ [2010-05-07 17:54:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I can understand you very well, I have been inn a very similar situation - only the job I got is one of the worst paid in whole country I help out at print factory, doing all the easy jobs - like gluing the envelopes But at least i can pay the rent and search for something better. My bad luck is that i study and usually work in the maritime industry - but when i went to Norway, the crizis broke out, and when i came back to Poland, our shipyards died. Maybe I bring bad luck to the countries I live in

I am sure that one day you will find a work that will be pleasant for you You are smart enought to achieve that, it just might take some time

Hello again and thank you for your kind words

Well, I got lucky, that's for sure. At time I got the job I had already applied even for supermarket cashier (and got refused!) which is one of the worst jobs I can imagine... It was about time - the year 2009 was probably the hardest period of my life so far and I'm really happy I'm slowly fixing all the mess inside and ouside me. As for the future... I still don't know exactly what I want to do and who I wanna be. One option I think of is paying all the debts and going abroad, maybe travelling the world without plan (if I manage to earn enough money to continue in every destination)... Maybe the experience would help me to decide what is my way of life.

I admire your courage to actually do that - I missed the first real chance I got (after finishing the high school) and now I have to wait.

Not that it is really a bad thing - I believe we can learn and grow no matter the situation we're in... It's only harder and takes more time sometimes.

I understand your disillusion from the job you got but just like you say - it's a good start and from this point of view it's great as it's still a huge difference to have a not so fine job and not to have a job at all. And please, don't start with this "I bring a bad luck" bulshit. That's simply nonsense. No one with such a beautiful and sincere smile can cause a bad luck These are just a hard times but no road is going nowhere. Just use your positive magic (you won't convince me you're an evil witch ) and take care

I didnt apply for a cashier only because after living in Norway i became antisocial

No road is going nowhere - some are simply endless roundaboutsP

Its just the fourth day and already i feel like a pesymistic zombie

You're absolutely welcome! You do have a lot of beautiful works in your gallery. Don't be surprised if I fave some more

I'm just always so behind - right now I have almost 1000 deviations in my devwatch and not much time to spend on dA so I occasionally go through them one by one always starting with the oldest (if I'd started with the newest I would probably never see some of them)...

Anyway, have a nice time
