I couldn't help but see your Zelda WIP picture...
Here's some advice. I used paint and Paint.net for a few years now, and i have some advice for you.
When coloring a hand drawn picture, here are some good tips.
1. paint all things (not drawn) white.
2. make all things you did draw, paint it black. with the bucket, (make the tolerance levels different (when using paint.net, i highly recomend it))
3. once you have the main picture black, you can use the magic wand to select what it is you want, then paint it your desired color.
4. have an idea about shading; If you draw something green, make the top of it lighter green, and the bottom of it darker.

so i make everything white, except lines and shade? : o then do the rest black?
and later convert the colors by picking them in the magic wand, and seclect the color. Then turn it into what i need?

many! its so tricky, since i use PS CS3 to draw each frame, and 2 other programs to animate at a good speed.
