If people have tried to preform jutsus using hand seals and scrolls, they have a very very... VERY poor understading of what Ninjitsu actually IS.

Yes, that is true, however when putting energy into the jutsu, it works. My friend and I (at school) once used a fire jutsu (snake, ram, monkey, boar, horse, tiger if that means anything to you), and accidentaly killed a moth.

Once I thought this below response, however I have changed my mind.

Ninjitsu is the art of stealth, not combat or sorcery. Elements of jujitsu and other arts were incorporated by the rogue Buddhist villages in Touist Japan.

The "Jutsu" refered to in Naruto are simaler to spells in D&D books; i.e. references to actual real magic that usually relies on demonic power in some fashion(with a few "essential ingredients exclude" they say...).

Attempt them at your own risk, as seeking what you do not understand usually ends very badly.
