Konnichi-nyaa!

How's the downloading going? What games have you collected?

I managed to order Dissidia from the game store in Cavendish. It's cool, but not entirely what I expected.
It's waiting for you when you get your PSP!

I'm still plodding my way through VII and VIII as well. I want to be able to give 'em back to you before year's end

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Hey

Good - we got IX (it only took 16 hours...). Next we want to get MediEvil, just because it's cute and I want to get FFI.

Not want you expected? In a bad way? I'm expecting a fighting game with FF characters.

If you haven't finished them (or want to play them again), you can just save them on the PS3.

I finished your birthday present, hopefully I can get it to you before Monday - can I give it to your mother (she's still at the bowling place, yes?)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Hisui-no-Afurika In reply to Nantalith [2010-12-07 09:36:52 +0000 UTC]

IX, that sounds cool MediEvil is great, I used to play that game all the time.

Nah, Dissidia is great, really addictive once you get used to it.

Of course, because it's a fighting game I didn't expect to be playing it all that long before it was finished, which was a dissapointing thought.

Silly me, seeing as this is a FINAL FANTASY game we're talking about.

You can save PS games on PS3? I didn't know that...
Well I guess that makes sence, otherwise how could you save the games you download? baka watashi

Oh shame, you didn't have to give me anything. Unfortunately my mom's left the bowling place. I'm not sure what other plan we should make, 'cuz it's unfair for you to use your time and petrol to drive all the way out to my place.

Ohayo, Nan-chan!
Genki no?

How are things going with you?
I'm finally going for Japanese lessons again. I'm focusing more on conversation now, since that's my weak point.

And I also finished FFXIII, so you're welcome to borrow the guide book some time, if you like

Things are going along. Last exam for the year on Friday - will be pleased to be done. Other than that I'm trying out a market in Claremont in December for pearl jewellery [which reminds me, I should put up some picture here...]. And I finished up some sewing. Now I"m free to start an epic sewing task - an authentic Tudor gown complete with all under garments. It will have to wait awhile because it uses masses of material and will require time to save money.

Did you like FFXIII now that you've finished it?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Hisui-no-Afurika In reply to Nantalith [2010-11-09 10:25:21 +0000 UTC]

Sounds like you got some interesting things planned

I did quite enjoy XIII after all. It took me until about chapter 11 before I really got into it, but it was great. I think I'll probably replay it from start sometime in the future. Now I'm waiting for Versus

I'm also having a bit of fun with VII. I had no idea Cloud gets into such... interesting situations. It's quite a riot.
I was really enjoying VIII as well, but for some reason my PS3 won't read disc 4. So I'm planning on buying an old PS memory card so I can play it over on my PS2, which thankfully does read disc 4.
Thats technology for you

How very strange. Well, at least you have a back up plan

I was in X Games the other day and they have a bunch of PS games, none I wanted though. I going to try download some onto the PS3, I'll let you know how it goes. First have to get the PS3 to connect... Damn old houses and their thick walls.

Back up plan accomplished! I managed to get a PS1 memory card from X Games for R10. Now I just gotta spend 50-odd hours trying to get to the end of disc 3....

Good luck downloading games!

Sape101 [2010-10-23 23:27:05 +0000 UTC]

Ohayoo!

Haha, the Japanese language is so intimidating. I'm still trying to memorize the Hiragana syllables. Oh goodness, you should see my Japanese writing...YIKES! Just by practicing Japanese, I realize that written letters is strongly influenced by cultural values. Of course this is completely obvious, but I did not fully understand this concept until I tried writing a different language.

I noticed that anyone can write roman letters any way they want, and it'll look acceptable. However writing Asian characters, if you miss a single stroke, you'll completely destroy the meaning. I keep mixing up "i" for "ko" and "a" for "o" since the character look similar from a quick glance. Therefore, Japanese is very particular and structured. But how do you feel?

I know Hiragana is the sounds of the Japanese language, but what's Katagana and Kanji? I heard Kanji is very VERY difficult. Are you able to read Kanji?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Nantalith In reply to Sape101 [2010-10-26 13:56:45 +0000 UTC]

Well, if you forget the tail of a 'g' it could look like a 'q'. I write hiragana [all of it for that matter] in my handwriting. I've seen many Japanese people write and all write differently and with their own style. Some I can't read at all! LOL~

Katakana is mainly used for foreign words and kanji can be used to specify which word is meant when there is more than one meaning to a word [homonyms]. I don't know many kanji [lazy] at all but I don't find them overly difficult to learn [when I put my mind to it].

Haha, it looks like you're becoming in tune with Japanese. Seriously, I easily get confused by the language even though I find it very interesting, especially the character letters.

My friend is planning a trip to Japan, and I immediately freaked because none of us know Japanese. Although, I would be wonderful to eat all that odd food flavors (like the snake ice cream) and learn more first-hand on the rural Meiji culture. The pop fashion is intriguing too.

I'm planning on taking a language workshop in another country too just for the experience, but first I want to go to another country for pure fun and new knowledge. Have you been to Egypt?

If you go to Japan, and you fell in love with it...would you permanently stay there?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Nantalith In reply to Sape101 [2010-09-14 06:35:09 +0000 UTC]

I can't actually say anything anymore - I've been doing Japanese for so long, it's very much part of my life now

What an awesome idea - I really think if you want to 'get' a language, you have to learn it in the country it is spoken. You have to see the language in use everyday - people, newspapers, street signs, in shops. You have to hear people speak it when they are happy, sad, angry, teasing, explaining - that way it becomes a language of people and not a language in a textbook. I have not been to Egypt but when I was younger [about 17 years ago - eep!]I was completely taken with the idea of all the gods and read about them endlessly, studied hieroglyphics; I wanted to become an Egyptologist. But then I happened across Japan and it won out - lol~

I have no idea if I would stay permanently. I like my country. It frustrates me sometimes but it is my home and I enjoy living here. It would depend on circumstance, I guess.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Sape101 In reply to Nantalith [2010-09-17 03:13:40 +0000 UTC]

"that way it becomes a language of people and not a language in a textbook."

Man, this message is simple yet so powerful! I really took it to heart. Now I feel less self conscious about diving into the world of Japan.

Do you like any Japanese films? We all tried watching Ju-on: the grudge, but didn't finish it because the storyline jumped around too much. Haha, us Americans demand a straight-forward plot. I thought Battle Royale was over-the-top entertainment. The concept kinda freak me out. My writing pal was trying to get me into Hara Yori Dango, but it didn't fit my interest.

Really? What other cultures were you fascinated with besides Japanese and Egyptian...wait! What stimulated your interest in Japan again?

I just grew an interest in Egypt and Brazil. I've always been fascinated by Japan and Greece though without even knowing it. After talking to you, I'm more curious about South Africa now.

I 100% agree. No country is more comfortable than home. America has its positives and negatives, but I'm used to the place. I couldn't see myself living anywhere else unless I find my "calling" or "soul mate" in another country.

How am I doing? I can't wait to travel somewhere...I'm pretty much obsessing over it. How are you?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Nantalith In reply to Sape101 [2010-09-17 12:30:54 +0000 UTC]

lol~

I've seen a few Japanese films - The Returner which I remember being funny. Audition, Dark Water, Sonatine and something with organ smuggling, I can't remember the title. I enjoyed MoonChild as well. Now that I think about it, there was also The Happiness of the Katakuris which was just too odd but not nearly as strange as this one I saw but I can't remember the title - oops.

I find the Saxons quite interesting but I haven't studied anything about them. You know, I can't really remember what exactly it was that got me hooked on Japan. I saw something, I can't remember what, as a young teen and was hooked.

Busy writing exam portfolios and them I'll write exams and be done for the year
