I was wondering why do you need to re-line the drawing ? Did you never tried to color direct the drawing with lightly transparent colours (to let see the drawing on layer 1) ?
Or, I can next time "extract lines" using a program of mine ...the white drone will be transparent and the grayish will be more or less. Only the pure black will survive !
