JAYOTSNA!!!! Dude that's a good ass fucking song huh? I am going to see M83 perform in Los Angeles next month, I think you might like Metronomy as well... How is everything over there? I was reading some NME article on the aftermath of the riots and its effect on Indie music labels, sounds like its gonna affect the music industry over there.
Jay do have a facebook page?

Jaysa-Laser In reply to Megamunch [2011-10-07 09:39:42 +0000 UTC]

I've seen Metronomy live at that festival summer just gone. I enjoyed them from what I can remember.

They were also nominated for the Mercury Prize, which is the big industry award for new artists, here, so I saw them on that as well I like that their music is about Devon (i think that is them, non?)

I honestly can't comment on that because I'm not really sure how true that is, I'm not sure how it would have affected the industry... I think there are a lot of people still willing to be musicians .. enlighten me on it because its not something I've heard about? Government are bailing out people who have had their houses burned and lost things, so I assume it's the same for business? But I don't know enough about it.

no, not on facebook, but will have a tumblr soon, are you on there? :3

Megamunch In reply to Jaysa-Laser [2011-10-08 08:08:28 +0000 UTC]

Wow thats so rad that you like metronomy, they are one of my favorite bands, Im going to see them live as well on the 18th. Im excited about that. I saw Arctic Monkeys here about 3 weeks ago... idk if you like them but i figure they must be huge in England.

Hmmm well maybe what i read was mumbo jumbo, but what it said was that the sony music warehouse was burned down and with it went a lot of vinyl/cd stock that wont be made anymore. The article claims that a lot of indie labels in the UK will be going out of business. But maybe they are hamming it up.

And yes I actually have a tumblr. I made it to stay up to date with my english class and assignments but id love to add you on there. I use it at least once a week or so.
Let me know when youve made your tumblr acct. so i can add you.

Jaysa-Laser In reply to Megamunch [2011-10-10 18:16:50 +0000 UTC]

yeah I like them. They aren't really huge here so much anymore, when they released Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor that was a really massive hit, I remember dancing to it at a student night, for some reason.. I love his lyrics to his songs. I think he is quite the poet.

oh so Sony was stocking independent label vinyl and cds in their warehouse? I still don't get why it's a problem, am I being thick?! I can't say I heard about it but then I'm not in the biz, nor am I interested in the fortunes of Sony they make hard cheddar, obviously for independents, that is pants.

english class? are you now writing? that's cool. I'm reading Pasternak and Kafka at the moment.

yes yes! I need to do the header been doign some other bits so I haven't been proactivo with the tumblr

Megamunch In reply to Jaysa-Laser [2011-10-12 07:50:45 +0000 UTC]

You're not being thick at all.

I just watched "submarine" have you seen it? Its got some Alex Turner songs in it. Besides that I really enjoyed the movie.

The class isn't a creative writing kind of course or anything of that sort. Just English 101.
I've heard the names of those writers before but I'm not the keenest individual when it comes to reading. Though I've been doing a lot more reading since I've gone back to school - its hard to find the time to even read the comic books I buy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jaysa-Laser In reply to Megamunch [2011-10-12 09:41:40 +0000 UTC]

I hadn't heard of Submarine.. But I most definitely will see it though, I didn't realise Richard Ayoade wrote it, I love him in Garth Merengi's Dark Place and IT Crowd, they are two British sitcoms which you may want to check out if you like British humour, he is a great actor but also a really clever, funny bloke. I think he went to Cambridge, like a lot of British comedians.

Yeah it's good to read I think it sharpens your mental faculty as well, my mate never read much at all growing up and hearing him read aloud is a bit like hearing a 7 year old sat with the reading teacher... it's really weird!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Megamunch In reply to Jaysa-Laser [2011-10-16 04:16:11 +0000 UTC]

I agree with what you said about reading. Its not helping my speech yet but its changing the way I think about almost everything. A friend of mine gave me some Bukowski and Rimbaud books that I will read sometime when I actually have time. I didn't know who Ayoade was before I watched Submarine - but I've always liked that dry type of British humor. I really really like Wes Anderson movies. They are in the same vein as submarine.
Rushmore is my favorite Anderson movie, idk if you've watched any of his movies.

I remember being obsessed with this beautiful fake rock star at college called Izaak. He looked a bit like RIchey Manic in his eyeliner furs stage, and I think was like anorexic and an alcoholic for some reason. His life wasn't that bad as far as I could see. Anyway, he was all about Rimbaud and all that, he would lend me poetry and direct my reading. But yeah it is about making time. I think I'm going to give those books back because I'm not reading them. I'd like to read some Oscar Wilde stuff a la Morrissey.

I think it will give you some bad ass vocab which is always cool. I like learning new words, especially if they are long and poncey.I like the word 'loquacious', I'm just trying to find places in conversation where I can actually use it.

Yeah I like Wes Anderson movies. I've seen Rushmore. I liked it. It's where he loves his teacher right, and tries to go out with her? I think I remember Royal Tenenbaums the most. I think because I got given it as a present. And I had like, 5 dvds, so I would watch it a lot I didn't like that one set on a train though, I started watching it and thought it was pants.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Megamunch In reply to Jaysa-Laser [2011-10-22 10:11:10 +0000 UTC]

You made me laugh with the word loquacious so I tried to use it and I said to a coworker of mine: "Thomas, after examining your mannerisms I have come to the conclusion that you are an individual who exhibits very loquacious behavior." He did not find humor in this the way I did. Its funny how you described Izaak because the girl that gave me the Rimbaud book is really skinny, pale skin, cool hair type - almost a spitting image of Milla Jovovich in the movie ".45".

I've wanted to read Don Quixote Man of la Mancha, and Oscar Wilde but wouldn't even know where to start. I watched DRIVE, it was so damn good it hurt. Anyway, the soundtrack for the movie blew me away. Maybe you've already seen the movie but here's fucking rad song that was used in the film.

hahaha! glad you found a use for it yeah it sounds silly, non

haha no way! My mate sent me a song from the Drive soundtrack, but much prefer your contribution. I will have to check this film out.

I like the verses on that song, especially the chord sequences, very haunting.

How weird, I was gonna pick up Don Quixote, (it's really thick!) and then I went for two books by Camus because they looked like short reads and kind of similar to how I think.

HI JAYOTSNA!!! Thank you for the b-day wishes!
Whats poppin you ask? Well life has consisted of a lot of band stuff lately and a lot of painting. I did a few paintings for a bar here in San Diego, I didn't get paid for it but I had fun doing it. Things like that motivate me... Ive noticed that my creativity flourishes when Ive got a deadline to meet. As for the band: we recorded 5 new demo songs, shot a music video in Los Angeles, and played a series of shows here in San Diego. So we've decided to take a break for the later half of September and the month of October - that way we can give ourselves time to finish up some new songs we've been working on. I haven't done much drawing lately but I'm starting to feel the itch for it, haha. How about you Jay, whats been going on in your life lately? OH! AND you have progressed so fucking much dude, seriously... HATS OFF TO YOU!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jaysa-Laser In reply to Megamunch [2010-10-11 09:37:02 +0000 UTC]

awesome stuff dude. You should get on tumbler or something and post your stuff up on here so I can hear it! You've done a music video as well! crikey. So you don't sing in the band do you? I think I remember you saying.

Well not all that much have a few small projects on but nothing looking to bring in the megabucks so I'm thinking of changing tack.. hopefully that will come around soon cos I owe some money.. !

thanks, yeah I think I'm learning more the more I do but I think anyone can do that if they do it all the time like I do.

Recently I've been thinking about getting a guitar and trying to write Lennon type songs. I need to earn some bob first tho
