A_lot e.e Decided to rewrite it all in Norwegian considering my writing is much better when I write Norwegian than English. That has also led to a bunch of minor and major changes on characters, names, geography and alike to make the story better, and to increase the distance to the 14-year-old-wannabe-fantasy-story it once was. Zetsumeimaru In reply to MaySohma [2014-11-19 16:00:38 +0000 UTC]
Well, it started out as a medieval pokemon story, but I decided to drop all pokemon references. Now it's just a fantasy story. I'll be sure to send you a link to it once I get a chapter done.

There are still monsters being controlled by people, but all references to pokemon are gone.

I see c: I think it'll be interesting to see how you've solved it - designing new monsters, making it not seem too much like PokΓ©mon, etc.

MaySohma In reply to Zetsumeimaru [2014-11-24 20:08:18 +0000 UTC]
From hunting? For the remote? No, but seriously? Is hunting like, moose, a thing in the US?
π: 0 β©: 1
Zetsumeimaru In reply to MaySohma [2014-11-24 20:14:25 +0000 UTC]
Moose, deer, elk, bears mountain goats. Yes hunting is a thing in the US. It's a good source of all natural protein. and plain fun... most of the time.
π: 0 β©: 1
MaySohma In reply to Zetsumeimaru [2014-11-28 21:59:14 +0000 UTC]
I see! I have always thought of hunting as something... Ultra-Norwegian - Canadian - Russian... Generally "northern" countries. But USA IS a northern country too. It's just you don't think of it, considering it has... Florida as well e.e Anyways. Cool!Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Zetsumeimaru In reply to MaySohma [2014-11-28 22:09:39 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but you need a hunting license and tags to do most hunting. The money made from the sales actually go back into to conservation. Invasive species like wild wild hogs don't require a tag or license because they negatively impact the environment. I want to go pig hunting so bad. I'm even designing a seven foot long spear just for it.
π: 0 β©: 1
MaySohma In reply to Zetsumeimaru [2014-11-30 08:54:49 +0000 UTC]
Oo I think you need a license here as well, and you need licenses to bear guns anyways. Also, hunting with "different" weapons, like spears, bow and arrow etc. is forbidden. Animal-right's, you know.
π: 0 β©: 1
Zetsumeimaru In reply to MaySohma [2014-11-30 14:36:28 +0000 UTC]
Really? Granted, you can't use spears to deer hunt here, you can still use a bow. It's no different than using a gun except you need more skill. You don't need a license to own guns over here, but anything more complex than a muzzle load prompts a background check when you buy. You need a license to carry around a handgun.

MaySohma In reply to Zetsumeimaru [2014-12-01 17:42:31 +0000 UTC]
I know about the no-license stuff, though - you see, the school shooting starts raging debates in Europe as well (mainly we discuss how stupid Americans are cx)
π: 0 β©: 1
Zetsumeimaru In reply to MaySohma [2014-12-01 22:06:54 +0000 UTC]
Most Americans are pretty stupid. Case in point; "Guns kill!" No, guns are tools, like hammers, or knives. You can kill with hammers and knives, but are people trying to get those outlawed? Nope.
π: 0 β©: 1
MaySohma In reply to Zetsumeimaru [2014-12-02 08:52:26 +0000 UTC]
Mhm. Except that guns are a lot less practical than knives and hammers (considering, how often does the average person in the street need a gun? Never! How often does he need a hammer? Often!) So while you actually need hammers and knives to do practical things, like cooking or repairing stuff, you don't really need guns other than for killing... Whether it's animals or people. Point is, the reason people differ the two is because everyone needs certain dangerous tools for harmless things, while guns can hardly do anything but harm.
π: 0 β©: 1
Zetsumeimaru In reply to MaySohma [2014-12-02 18:31:53 +0000 UTC]
That is certainly true, but the first instances of hammer-like and knife-like objects were also used exclusively for killing. The deal with guns in the U.S. is that Law abiding Americans can have a means to defend themselves. Now, there are people trying to take guns away from law abiding citizens by making it illegal to own them. This puts people at greater risk because criminals tend to not follow the law.

MaySohma In reply to Zetsumeimaru [2014-12-03 18:49:09 +0000 UTC]
*Sigh* You don't get it, do you. If it was hard getting a hold of guns, most people wouldn't have guns. Then less people would kill people with guns. Yeah, people would still kill, but it would be sliiiightly harder to perform things like school shootings. Just as an example of how it works just over the Atlantic: one of our national newspapers today presented the statistics over how many policemen killed since WWII: 7. 7 policemen killed over 7 decades. We must have done something right.Β
