Well Ed, I'm back on dA for a while, so I got stuff. Out of all of the animes of the 2010s I've looked forward to, so far I was only let down by really two or three of them. Dimension W, Sailor Moon Crystal, and I'm on the fence about the first season of Sword Art Online. With Dimension W, I can at least say that the creators of this show had an idea. Sailor Moon Crystal now a days I regret asking for, and Sword Art Online One I'm like, "Well I did like Aincrad kind of. I mean it wasn't great, and it had a few issues hear and there, but despite that, I still thought it was good. But seriously, fuck Fairy Dance." I mean Dimension W, I really did love the ideas it had. I mean it was all about a universe that now has limitless energy, and it's main protagonist hates the hell out of it. So me, I'd like a sequel honestly. I mean you can't deny, that even if you agree with the general consensus that it wasn't very good, and it wasn't, it still had potential to be as good as Gurren Lagann, or Parasyte the Maxim.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordChaosX In reply to GGundamSamurai [2016-06-23 23:14:32 +0000 UTC]

I do think parts in Dimension W could've been handled better.
Anyway, I saw the new art for Samurai Jack's return and it almost reminded me of what you told me years ago on how you'd do a sequel series. Granted, the 50 year timeskip I didn't see coming (which more than likely means The Scotsman is probably dead by then and we'll probably see Jack teaming with his son at some point.), but I'm curious how it's going to play out seeing as how it's finally getting a proper finale.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

GGundamSamurai In reply to LordChaosX [2016-07-01 00:34:39 +0000 UTC]

I'm worried about Jack's finale honestly, and I regret asking for it. I mean, It's going to be rated TV-MA, and the last time a mature children's show got a revival rated TV-MA we got absolute crap like Ren and Stimpy's Adult Party Cartoon. So don't blame me for being worried.

Well in 2016 I've also been marathoning Popeye, and The Honeymooners. I'm watching all four generations of Popeye, and I'm watching this awful 80s cartoon called Popeye and Son? It sucks. Popeye doesn't punch anyone, and his son is both bland and stupid. I mean all he ever needs to do to finish his chores is eat some spinach, and it'll be done quickly. Also I would imagine if Popeye ever had a son, he'd be raising him to be a tough as nails fighter the way Garp raised Luffy. I mean if Popeye had a son I'd be imagining him throwing his kid in the jungle over night, down a well, and tying him to balloons. Instead this cartoon has Popeye have Popeye Jr. do normal kid things. Yeah shitty cartoon. Popeye isn't punching anyone, and his son is a bland idiot.

Recently, I finished The Rose of Versailles and right now I'm binge watching Lupin the III (from the Green Jacket series all the way up to the current Blue Jacket series). Ā I find it strange how Rose of Versailles has been dubbed in almost every language except English. I mean throughout the whole thing, I was just going off of a list of voice actors to be the characters' English voices.
Veronica Taylor as Oscar.
Jason Griffith as Andre.
Johnny Yong Bosch as either Robespierre or Louis XVI
Yuri Lowenthal as Saint-Just.
Liam O'Brien as Bernard.
Lisa Ortiz as Jean.
Travis Willingham or Patrick Seitz as Alain
Crispin Freeman as Fersen.
Rob Mungle as Louis XV.
With Lupin, I already got back into the Red Jacket series through the dub Adult Swim used to air. Anachronisms aside, it's a pretty good dub that's aged pretty well. As for the shows, I'm enjoying them a lot.

Sounds cool. Right now I'm rewatching, and enjoying Samurai Champloo on Toonami. I also rewatched one of Go Nagai's classics. Mazinger Z. Show aged a lot, but that theme song is so awesome.

GGundamSamurai [2016-01-11 23:00:50 +0000 UTC]

So now I'm starting 2016 by marathoning all of Johnny Test. Seen ten episodes and I'm like to myself, "Why is this show supposed to be so bad and on the level of absolutely hated things like Batman and Robin, or Battlefield Earth?" I mean so far I never once thought, "Well I want to kill myself." watching this show.

LordChaosX In reply to GGundamSamurai [2016-01-13 00:55:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, they already have a director who only recently started directing after being a visual effects guy. Apparently he's got three other projects in the works and nobody knows if they're gonna be any good.
Speaking of live action anime films, I actually read that during the 90's, Disney was actually interested in doing a live action Sailor Moon movie and they wanted to get the guy who directed Rumble in the Bronx. Call me insane, but I'd actually be interested. Almost on the same level on how Superman Lives could've come out.

So, my favorite Cartoon Network villains in order.

The Intruder
Alfred Nobel when he was on Time Squad
2011 Mum-Ra
General Modula
Aku
Princess Morbux
Mandark
The Red Guy
and The Gorg

Forgive for not adding The Litch though as I have yet to watch Adventure Time. It's on my list though.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordChaosX In reply to GGundamSamurai [2015-12-14 01:18:38 +0000 UTC]

Speaking of Time Squad, did you ever once think there was someone going throughout history causing those changes in the timeline? Because as a kid, I always had a feeling that's what was going on.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

GGundamSamurai In reply to LordChaosX [2015-12-14 03:02:51 +0000 UTC]

Well because of Toon City coming around, and Time Squad doesn't fit with the rest of the line up and style they were going for, the show got canceled so we'll never know. Seriously. the show got high ratings, and approval from all sorts of critics, but was canceled, not because it was too adult, but because the network wanted to air much better shows instead. Like My Gym Partner's a Monkey. Hey Hot Topic, why whore out Invader ZiM when Time Squad fucking exists you bastards. Why doesn't that show have a major cult following. Why don't people petition to get a new season of this show. It actually deserves it. I'm sorry Ed, I just can't get over this shows cancelation and how no one other than myself seemed to ever care.

GGundamSamurai [2015-12-09 01:18:15 +0000 UTC]

Two things about Toonami? What do you think of Intruder II? I personally found it to top it's prequel in everyway, and The Intruder ended up being to Tom what Pain was to Naruto, Frieza was to Goku, or Younger Toguro was to Yuske. So there's that. Also that comic made Tom fucking 4 kind of bad ass and retconned what everyone hated about that era of Toonami.

The other thing was this. At first I thought Parasyte looked like it would be really good, but not one I would be into. Then I start watching it, and it became another instant favorite of mine of the 2010s. God ever since Madoka there has been on outstanding new show after another. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Space Dandy, Attack on Titan, this, Kill La Kill, and One Punch Man just to name a few. I mean American, and Japanese animation now seem to have gotten amazing in the 2010s wouldn't you say? Yes even better than the 90s.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordChaosX In reply to GGundamSamurai [2015-12-09 02:35:01 +0000 UTC]

I'd have to agree with you on that. So far, I'm liking where Intruder II is going.
So, since Michiko and Hatchin has one episode left to air, what do you think is taking its place?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

GGundamSamurai In reply to LordChaosX [2015-12-09 02:40:35 +0000 UTC]

Well I want JoJo's Bizarre Adventure to take that spot. I'm sure a lot of people do. Though I doubt it will.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordChaosX In reply to GGundamSamurai [2015-12-09 02:59:31 +0000 UTC]

We both definitely want that to happen. We both know that Sailor Moon (90's anime now with a better dub or Crystal) and Dragonball Super joining Toonami are very much inevitable since DBZ and Sailor Moon were part of the original Moltar era.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

GGundamSamurai In reply to LordChaosX [2015-12-09 21:41:47 +0000 UTC]

Super, and Crystal will most likely come one day or another. As I told you numerous times, I didn't like those at all from what I saw of them. But what do I matter? If the fans want it, Toonami is going to air it. That's why they're better now than in the 2000s, They listen to people, and what they want.

Hey guess what? I'm back on dA. What do you think of the new Samurai Jack show on Adult Swim? Much better idea than a film wouldn't you say? It's all about how the whole reason Jack was never able to defeat Aku was because throughout the entire series he's been using his father's sword, and in order for him to defeat Aku, Jack needs to build his own sword.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordChaosX In reply to GGundamSamurai [2015-12-08 01:17:33 +0000 UTC]

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

GGundamSamurai In reply to LordChaosX [2015-12-08 11:37:25 +0000 UTC]

I like this idea for a sequel series more than my own. Remember my idea took place ten years after the original, and Jack was covered in Yakuza style tattoos, and took many youngsters to be his students. One being the baby he got back to his home in the last episode that aired, a Wooly, one of those monkey he taught how to jump good, the mechanic who made him his new sandals' son, and The Scottsman's son etc. And the reason I like this idea more is because I never saw it coming. I mean did you ever think that the whole reason Jack could never defeat Aku was because he was using his father's sword? Cause I didn't.

Sorry I haven't told you this sooner, but I've been majorly busy. However remember when I told you while I'm not too thrilled with the A plot revolving around Asuna and the Sleeping Knights in Mother's Rosario, but at the same time absolutely loved the B plot involving Asuna and her mother due to how everything the two say to each other feels very real, and absolutely none of it felt forced, or fake? Well with last weeks episode and the plot twist explaining why The Sleeping Knights were so distant, I was very impressed. What about you?

Aincrad- 5/10

Fairy Dance- 2/10

Phantom Bullet- 9/10

Mother's Rosario- 8/10

Would you agree that the 2010s is so far the best decade of anime thus far? I mean all of the popular shows I've seen were either outstanding, or really good. I loved JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Space Dandy, Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online, Puella Magi Madoka, and Kill La Kill a lot. I also really liked Hunter x Hunter 2011. I mean yes there's still crap, but unlike the previous decades the crap gets canceled rather quickly.

I was expecting for Jonathan, Bosch's Renton Thurston voice due to the kind and gentle nature of it. I'm honestly not huge on the accents as all of them sound very forced. What about you?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordChaosX In reply to GGundamSamurai [2015-08-13 23:26:10 +0000 UTC]

Would you blame me if I thought Bryce's Caesar sounded more like Jason Marsden trying and failing at pulling off an Italian accent? Seitz I think is doing a great job as Dio. Can't wait for how he does the actual MUDA cry (Yes, they confirmed that in SC's full dub, they will keep the whole MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA thing when he's fighting) and of course THE WORLD! As for the accents themselves, I'm mixed on them.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

GGundamSamurai In reply to LordChaosX [2015-08-14 20:28:54 +0000 UTC]

I honestly liked the test dub a lot more. The accents are unneeded as in anime, there is no different languages really. Everyone speaks a common language. That way it can be translated better. It's like Star Wars. They're not really speaking English in that universe, they're speaking a common language unique to that universe. Only to the audience does it sound like our language. I think the people behind the JoJo's dub missed that crucial part when going in on this.

GGundamSamurai [2015-08-11 19:24:21 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I also finally finished Ennies Lobby, and you know my history with One Piece too as you were there for my hating on it. As much as I don't hate East Blue, and I really don't like either Baroque Works, or Skypeia I have to say, I really liked CP9. It was the story arc from One Piece I've been waiting for since I first watched the uncensored version. I loved everything about it from the fight with Aokiji to when Ussop apologizes to the crew for leaving them. The underlining theme of trust in this arc was brilliant. Robin couldn't trust the rest of the Straw Hats, Galley Law couldn't trust the government, Ussop didn't trust himself, and the way all of these things were done was very respectful due to how serious an issue like trust really is. The art was so much better too, No one looks like they're on crack like they did really early on, and the animation while not Cowboy Bebop quality was much improved over early parts. The fights were amazing. Rather than in earlier fights in the show where Luffy or another one of the heroes just tried to strike their opponent harder the fights like lets say Luffy vs Blueno, Zoro vs Kaku, and Luffy vs Lucci were far more who can use their skills better so it wasn't a mindless slug fest the way Luffy vs Enel, or Luffy vs Mr.Crocodile. The music was also very good. This arc finally has themes I'm listening to on their own rather than in the. This is the first thing from One Piece I will watch again. I liked it that much. 10/10 arc. I'm not kidding. I totally get why it's such a fan favorite.

Now that I finished Kill La Kill, I have to say I really liked it. Found it to be great. I thought it was new, brilliant, creative, innovative, and set new standards left and right.Ā  I will definitely be watching this show again. A long with SAO, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Attack on Titan, and Space Dandy, this was one of the best new animes in recent years. What do you think?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

LordChaosX In reply to GGundamSamurai [2015-08-11 22:38:12 +0000 UTC]

Kill La Kill was fun. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Speaking of KLK, are you familiar with Go Nagai's Cutie Honey? Because Kill La Kill shares some similarities with it with the exception of the ending because Kill La Kill (THANKFULLY) didn't leave one more lingering plot-line left. Seriously, if Go Nagai ever plans on doing anything with Cutie Honey (that actually has Honey defeating Panther Zora!), I think he should look at the battle with Ragyo as a possible example on how to do it.
