cardgamerdebu In reply to Limey-Boy [2015-09-11 11:42:59 +0000 UTC]

Indeed! I don't think I'm going back, though; I'm a bit paranoid about the venomous wildlife and possibility of skin cancer. You could stay in the shade all the time, but then what's the point of going all that way?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Limey-Boy In reply to cardgamerdebu [2015-09-11 12:01:11 +0000 UTC]

Ooh eck, thats a good point. not looking forward to the 10% chance of death every time you sit on the loo or put some shoes on.

Aye, it'd be a bit of a waste to go to such a place to NOT get horribly burned. there's things you simply must do being a pasty brit on holiday.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cardgamerdebu In reply to Limey-Boy [2015-09-11 12:22:22 +0000 UTC]

I didn't know it was as high asΒ 10% - that's far too high for my liking!Β As for the weather, I suffer from OCD, so the possibility ofΒ being even slightly covered in tanning lotion would be enough to put me off heading out into the sun.

People callΒ this land of oursΒ 'Broken Britain', but better a little rain and melancholy than getting poisoned andΒ burned to a crisp, right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Limey-Boy In reply to cardgamerdebu [2015-09-11 18:32:00 +0000 UTC]

Ohh, fellow OCD sufferer I see. you have my condolences :c

Aye, there's something to be said for the endless onslaught of gray sky's with the occasional brilliant shower than dying 14 different ways on the way to the corner shop

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cardgamerdebu In reply to Limey-Boy [2015-09-11 20:49:52 +0000 UTC]

Wow, would you believe thatΒ you are the first person I've ever talked to with OCD (as far asΒ I know)? Thank you for your condolences; they mean more having come from a fellow sufferer.Β Does it affect your artistry at all? You'd be surprised at my working process - it's almost at the stage where I spend more time re-touching a piece than actually drawing it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Limey-Boy In reply to cardgamerdebu [2015-09-12 02:43:01 +0000 UTC]

Huh, really? most odd, but I can see where you're coming from. it runs in my family, my nan has it pretty bad but she'd never admit its OCD. its a generational thing, 1950's values and stuff.

A fair bit, procrastination due to anxiety and stress from OCD is pretty common for me, which turns into a feedback loop as the more you procrastinate the more work builds up which leads to more stress, etc. its never directly tied to my artistry, but its influence is felt.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cardgamerdebu In reply to Limey-Boy [2015-09-12 14:47:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I can understand that. OCD might not even been a recognised ailmentΒ back in your nan's day - apparently, my granddad might have had it, too.

I'm certainly no stranger to procrastination! Because I work from home, there are so many distractions; it'sΒ very tempting to nip back to bed for a while, and end up at the end of the afternoon having not done anything. Also, quite often I find it quite difficult to actually start a piece, but once I lay down the first stroke, it gets easier.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Limey-Boy In reply to cardgamerdebu [2015-09-13 21:23:56 +0000 UTC]

Aye, I hear ya there. OCD wasn't officially recognized as a "thing" until well later than her, she just dealt with it the same way everyone in post-ww2 Britain dealt with mental health problems. Stiff upper lip and all that, it worked to varying degree's sometimes.

Oy Vey, the distractions! Its not fair having access to youtube and my steam library at any time I want, I had to download and install all sorts of blocking programs just to get work done sometimes. Same about starting work too, if I've got a good feeling or the right motivation (usually music) I can get straight to work, otherwise its like pulling teeth sometimes.

Oh the first world problems of being a digital freelancer

Limey-Boy In reply to cardgamerdebu [2015-09-15 00:54:58 +0000 UTC]

Quite so, if I had a little fridge next to the desktop and a second monitor to watch cartoons on,
I'd get nothing done

cardgamerdebu In reply to Limey-Boy [2015-09-15 08:42:24 +0000 UTC]

And rightly so. Jezza's not for everyone, but I'm torn between hating him for being such a thoroughly noxious human being, and loving him for the same reason.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Limey-Boy In reply to cardgamerdebu [2015-09-17 03:32:39 +0000 UTC]

No worries, he's smart enough to have a regular TV show and a fat check cut for what he does, even if I have a hard time respecting him for it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cardgamerdebu In reply to Limey-Boy [2015-09-17 16:39:20 +0000 UTC]

I can well understand that! JK really doesn't make it easy to like him - I do find him to be quite vile, but strangely watchable.

What I don't understand is how the people that appear on the show get so much sex; I wouldn't shake hands with a lot of them, much less engage in intercourse.
