Thanks for the welcome, already love this place!
technique is pretty straightforward: working in watercolour lay a very wet wash of the lightest ( base) colour, let it dry and then you just paint the tiny shapes you want in darker colours ( you can also scratch lines in with the back of the brush while the base is wet). it takes time but it's not hard.
