I saw "Rabbit Island, NZ". Any time I see work by a kiwi I like to add them to my watch list so I can see what kiwis are doing. I enjoyed your gallery. I am a big sucker for colour and you use it beautifully and with skill.

Well my family is hoping the move will be permanent but our house hasn't sold yet in the UK because of the recession but now it's clearing up it'll most likely be permanent and we do have NZ residency. Thingys i don't know much about it to be honest

I think four years and deciding to stay here qualifies as kiwi. Well, I hope that all goes well.
Where in the UK do you come from ( I do family history so when anyone says they are from the UK I take an interest)

That's way up in the north. Home of the famous Lakes District. Unfortunately I don't have any rellies between Shropshire and Edinburgh. Still I hope to visit one day. Best wishes on you finalising your move here.

PS. what's the "stone circle"?

bronzebug In reply to JohnCEstes [2012-07-28 21:51:43 +0000 UTC]
Like, I am sure that if a New Zealander moved to Spain after four years they would probably still call themselves a kiwi and not spanish.
Anyway nobody knows what exactly the stone cirlces where used for. They where made by the Romans. Some people think it's a burial ground or some sort of clock or calender. It's a bit like stonde henge. It's really beuatiful. one time when we went when I was little it started snowing- but only outside the inside of the circle was compleatly clear. It was stunning. Sorry, I seemed to have missed your reply
I would love to visit the area. Gingerbread (nom nom). Is Sarah Nelson someone you know or is it local brand?
I watched a programme recently of the walks you can do around in the Lake District. But I can imagine that Cumbria is bigger and more varied than the Lake District.
I'm a bit of an anglo-phile, mainly because of the chase to follow family history. So I tend to find out all that I can about areas that my ancestors lived in. So far, I seem to have a lot in Devon, the West Country (Somerset, Wiltshire), Shropshire, the Borders in Scotland, East Lothian etc.
I guess I am also keen that people who come here feel welcome and find a place for themselves here.
It's not easy to be in NZ. Especially when all you have known is just SO far away.
It's not like you can say, "You know, I've thought about this and I am not happy, so I'm going down to the station and I'm going to stay at aunt Flo's for awhile".
It's so far away.
Howz the immigration process going? Any developments?
Antz

Sarah Nelson's he name of a woman who made gingerbread. It's a small family owned shop that's been there since the 1800's. It's a secret recipe but really yummy. It's not like traditional ginger bread- it's more like a biscuit-cake thing.
We have full immigration and everything but we may move back if the house doesn't sell. We've got tennants in so it's going well

Being British is something to be proud of and it has shaped most of who you are so I can understand why you would consider yourself British.
