I see, so you get a deviantART account and you talk to my sister before you talk to me? Betrayal!

As I said, there's not much in your gallery, and you hardly ever use deviantART. I had no guarantee of a reply, even if I was to talk to you!

Oh you are too kind! I love your taste in games by the way. Have you ever tried playing TES3 Morrowind? You should see what Argonians look like in that part of the world!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-09 20:56:42 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I have Morrowind! I don't play it a whole lot though. I mostly play and mod Oblivion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IceArcher In reply to LieutenantHawk [2011-11-09 21:02:18 +0000 UTC]

I love how Morrowind is really exotic, and the amount of variety it contains, but Oblivion is really beautiful. I can't wait for Skyrim. I hope that I will get it for my birthday in just under 2 weeks time!
I am such an Elder Scrolls Nerd!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-09 22:35:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Morrowind is pretty interesting. I've spent so much time in Oblivion, however, I hardly remember it. XD I'll probably wait a while to get Skyrim, after the price drops a bit. I need a graphics card for my computer anyway.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IceArcher In reply to LieutenantHawk [2011-11-10 16:10:07 +0000 UTC]

I'm relying on the hope that if my computer is unable to cope, that my father's will. Skrim looks so stunning! Mind you, I'm not too bothered about good graphics on games. As long as it plays well and has a good story then I'm fine.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-10 20:56:57 +0000 UTC]

Well, they recently announced the requirements for the game. If you want I can send them to you and you can check ahead of time to see which computer it'll work on. And, yes, I agree that graphics aren't what makes a game. But at the same time, Skyrim's graphics are really beautiful. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IceArcher In reply to LieutenantHawk [2011-11-10 21:26:19 +0000 UTC]

Don't worry, I've just found the requirements, and I think it might just work on mine. It looks stunning. Argonians look really reptillian this time, and orcs have had a makeover. I can't wait! One thing I'm really looking forward to is that NPCs do things! Actively walk dogs and mop floors! Double wielding looks great too!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-11 00:46:43 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's good. I know, the Argonians are freaking amazing! I love how all of the races look--there's a lot more diversity than in Oblivion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IceArcher In reply to LieutenantHawk [2011-11-11 18:14:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, and apparently there are a lot more voice actors too, although I have no way to be certain yet. I was disappointed when I found that Oblivion had less voice actors than Morrowind... I missed the deep husky voice of the Dark Elves...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-11 21:02:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh Lord, the soundtrack is amazing too! It's freaking four hours long! Oblivion's soundtrack wasn't near that intricate.
And, yeah, I am excited about the voice acting. They've got quite a few good people in on it!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IceArcher In reply to LieutenantHawk [2011-11-11 22:46:52 +0000 UTC]

Four Hours? Wow!
The music was good on both Morrowind and Oblivion, but definately not four hours! If the score is as good as the previous games, then it should really add to the depth of the game.
Do you know if there are any famous people in it again? Like how Patrick Stewart voiced Uriel Septim, Sean Bean as Martin and Terence Stamp as Mankar Camoran?
Out of interest, are they well known in the United States?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-12 01:23:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it's even better! I've already listened to a few of the tracks. The main theme is especially amazing. It sends shivers down my spine every time!
Yeah, there are quite a few. Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, etc.
Some of them are fairly well-known here, and some aren't. Not a lot of them are really mentioned, but I know who they are at least. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IceArcher In reply to LieutenantHawk [2011-11-12 11:32:30 +0000 UTC]

I know of both of them!
Whe I first started on Oblivion, the only one I knew for certain was Patrick Stewart as Uriel Septim, and when I first ran into Martin, it took a while to convince my father that it was Sean Bean, but I did recognize his voice.
I have heard the main theme, and it is brilliant! Have you seen the 35 minutes of Skyim on GameInformer? It confirms that they've brought WEREWOLVES back!

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-12 20:43:59 +0000 UTC]

Yes, Jeremy Soule is a genius composer. XD I haven't seen the GameInformer video but I've been reading a lot about the game on the UESP wiki.

If you are really interested in everything Elder Scrolls, I would recommend you try The Imperial Library. It's a great website full of the Lore of the games. There isn't much on Skyrim yet, but it has got some brillian desktop wallpapers!

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-12 21:55:59 +0000 UTC]

I'm already on UESP wiki a lot, and it's got more than enough info. There's already a full synopsis of the main quest... I'm not going to read it though; I don't want it to be spoiled! XD

IceArcher In reply to LieutenantHawk [2011-11-12 22:18:06 +0000 UTC]

No, I try to stay away from Wikipedia as far as games go. Wikipedia is the only thing that our school hasn't blocked, so sometimes, when I have nothing better to do, I sit and read about games I've been playing - or I used to, as I have already said, I now avoid reading it after a bad experience I had when I spoilt, erm, I can't actually remeber what it was, but I remember being cheesed off about it. It might have been Prince of Peria, but I'm not too sure anymore...

LieutenantHawk In reply to IceArcher [2011-11-12 22:39:21 +0000 UTC]

It's not Wikipedia. It's a wiki-styled site made specifically for the TES games, and its information is as accurate as it gets.
Besides, Wikipedia isn't all that bad. They have specialists that check peoples' edits and additions on pages before they're published, so it's really not like you can put anything on there.

IceArcher In reply to LieutenantHawk [2011-11-12 22:45:19 +0000 UTC]

I know, I have nothing against wikipedia, except that I have occasionally sat during my breaks and read through an entire page on a game, reading the general reviews, the casting and the music, and sometimes I stupidly sit and read the plot of a game, and often spoil the ending. I like to read up around the background of games, but have never really bothered with the Wikias. A friend showed me the wiki-site for Monster Hunter, and it was definately full of infomation. I shall have to try the TES wikia site. Thanks for pointing this out to me!

Cheers! There's a good community on here, I would probably paint a lot less if I didn't have my work on this site. By the way, I studied animation for a year (but eventually decided to do science instead). It's very hard work, but rewarding!

IceArcher In reply to Alexanderlovegrove [2011-09-24 20:49:32 +0000 UTC]

You studied animation? Where? What's it like? Besides the hard work...
Sorry if I'm too inquisitive, but I have been looking around the universities and I could really use some recommendations. What sort of animation did you do?
I can understand how you might prefer to do science, as I am taking A Level Physics and Biology too. Which science did you move on to?

Alexanderlovegrove In reply to IceArcher [2011-09-26 10:48:52 +0000 UTC]

Well, it was several years ago I only did a one year foundation course at the AUCB in Bournemouth. It was traditional hand drawn / clay animation, and we covered a lot of the principles of animation, the basics and so on. It was interesting but my heart was never really in it - I would rather draw one picture than animate hundreds together!
I ended up being offered a place on the degree course, but I just found myself being more and more interested in science instead. If you are passionate about animation, however, you'll certainly enjoy it a lot more than I did!

I ended up studying conservation and ecology, which is really where my interests are. Good choice on the A-levels!
