Is Stockholm your native town ?
I can understand you.
I've been there three times, and it is still my favourite capital city in Europe.

no it's not, even though I wish to live there one day
well, lucky you - I've only made it there once so far but I'm certainly going back asap - just look at the beautiful architecture of Gamla Stan and the overall feeling you get when you're there - it's so great!

Yes, those paintings have something special, something reminding the Finish spirit I would say.
I was there in 2012, when Helsinki was designated World Design Capital, and it was also the 200th anniversary of the accession of the city as a capital.
2017 might be THE year to go in Finland, because the country is currently celebrating its first century of independence.
Helsinki is really a city that you can explore entirely in one week I think.
The city centre is great and you've got many churches and cathedrals to visit.
The most impressive to me was the church in the rock, Temppeliauko.
There is a tram which goes from one part of the city to the other, the perfect way to explore ; that's the number 2 if I remember well.
You can also go to the Kiasma Museum if you like contemporary art.
Our hotel, TORNI, allowed us a wonderful view over the city, by day and of course, by night.
I've also been to Suomenlinna, a sea fortress just near the city.
Tallinn is very different.
In fact, Tallinn is two cities in one.
I've not really visited the modern part, but all the interest of Tallinn resides in the medieval city.
That's a wonderful place to spend one day.
You go there by boat, but boat speeds are quit different depending on the company !
Finish people love to spend a lot of time on the sea... but you will probably be in a hurry to reach Tallinn shore, so choose the one hour and a half crossing (not the three hours one...).

Of course !
I think that Gamla Stan is also the place where I've spent most of my time in Stockholm.
You can get some great shots here in the old streets, and you've also got nice churches to visit.
The atmosphere in autumn is quite different from during the summer, but both are very beautiful seasons to visit this place.
Without being a museum addict, I've been really impressed by the Vasamuseet, do you know this place ?
You can go there by boat, it's a real pleasure all long !

well I have only been there in winter so every year - from late november til spring - I wish I were back there again
I haven't done so much sightseeing, but rather spent my time strolling around wich was really nice as well. I didn't get to visit the Vasamuseet but I will when I'm there the next time.
But then, what does autumn atmosphere in Stockholm feel like? I only visited Lund, which is a small city nearby Malmö, in autumn, which was pretty nice as well. Still, winter's just THE perfect time for sweden IMAO.

Autumn is great for the colours.
Orange, red and yellow, that's really beautiful.
And the weather is not so cold at this period of the year in South Sweden.
One of the best places to feel it is the Millesgården.
Unique atmosphere, for sure !
I've also visited Malmö and Göteborg, but Stockholm has my preference.
And Vaxholm is not an exceptional site for someone coming from a maritime city.
But the Göteborg archipelago includes very charming islands, like Styrsö or Vrångö.
IMAO.

Well, autumn is great in general - it's the most inspiring season of all! and, after visiting Lund, I went on to Oslo and went even further to the norwegian-swedish border and I was actually surprised by how warm it was there even in late October! I came with a suitcase full of winter clothes but needed none of them
I've never been to Millesgården before but I'll keep it in mind for my next stay! When I was there 2 years ago I also enjoyed Tantogården a lot! Do you know that place, too?
Well yes, I have to say that it was the same with me, no matter where I was, I always wished it were Stockholm... - but I do want to see Göteborg once in the (hopefully) near future
oh, AND Finland!
