Targeted ad software can be stupid to the point of hilarity sometimes... The GoogleSyndication script scans this page and up to now has generated ads for Lord of the Rings books, but the banner I'm looking at now has ads for "homeland security collaboration systems" because of the tongue-in-cheek reference in my bio under Location and one of my Interests. That is just too perfect, considering how paranoid I am over HS spying and bureaucracy. Why in the world would I pay to have this source of humor removed??

Hey Paige. Thus far I've been doing well except for the issue of slowness, but I can work around it. More importantly, I'm not altogether sure where to upload about 95 percent of my stuff.
I've always understood "fanart" to be based on a visual source... such as drawing a cartoon or movie character to look like the original. The DA description of it also only lists examples of visually inspired work. Most of my stuff is based on a written source. I've browsed around and there seems to be no consensus about where it goes. It shows up in People, Fantasy, *and* Fanart. I've just been uploading to Fantasy because that's the genre of the material it is based on... and it looks like "People" is meant for pics of one's own characters. I don't guess it really matters. It isn't like I'm putting them into a category that's totally inappropriate.
