Yeah I know the feeling, it's part of my Cycle as well.

I'm doing ok, just trying to get things figured out for the Holidays. I'm not sure if you recall me discussing on how I want to make Christmas Gifts for people for the past several Years. NOW after all this Time it looks like I'm about to complete this task! I'm getting the tools ready and pretty soon the supplies. I want to send you a Gift as well and I won't take no for an answer ok young lady?

One of the reasons I said no is because I figured you'd want a gift in return - after all, you did go out of your way to make me something. I didn't ask for anything. And I don't want to be put in a position where it's like I'm obligated to return the favor.

I don't want to get reacquainted as we'll never get back to the level where we last left off and I don't have the time, energy or drive to get there. I don't mind the occasional "hey what's up?" but that's honestly all it's really going to be. I've been on this road before - it's not worth the effort, in my opinion. I barely maintain the friendships I do have, so it's not likely I'm going to expend the effort to rekindle one.

Reading all that back makes me sound really bitchy, but that's honestly how I feel and the reality of the situation from my perspective.

It does make you sound Bitchy but completely overstandable. If you recall I have a hard time maintaining Friendships and keeping in touch with people, esp with me moving so damn much and battling Depression. That's something I've been trying to change this Year along with so many other things.

As far as the Present thing I have no problem sending you one without receiving one, it wouldn't matter to me if you sent one to me or not. Personally I added the Gift Exchange thing because I assumed you were going to say you aren't going to accept a Gift from someone that you haven't spoken to in awhile or know very well. Seems like a Catch 22.

Funny thing about that is even if we were still on frequent speaking terms, I would have still said no to a gift. And knowing that I would not be giving anything in return, it doesn't seem fair for me to receive something. I dunno, perhaps that's just my internalized perception of how society functions - scratch my back, I scratch yours. And maybe you're not like that, that's fine. I just don't wanna participate in this.
